Description
Under direction, is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing PUBLIC EVENTS AND EDUCATIONal programs/partnerships that promote water conservation, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. This position requires a blend of creativity, organizational skills, and a passion for environmental education.
Examples of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Event Planning and Management:
- Work with Public Information Specialist on developing and implementing a calendar of community EVENTS AND workshops, related to water conservation and environmental education.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including water quality testing, venue selection, equipment setup, and vendor management.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful event execution.
- Educational Program Development:
- Design and deliver engaging educational programs for schools (K-12), community groups, and customers.
- Create informative and interactive presentations and materials on water conservation and related environmental topics.
- Stay current with environmental issues and water district initiatives to develop relevant educational content.
- Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Represent the South Coast Water District at community EVENTS AND public meetings.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, local organizations, and community leaders to promote environmental awareness.
- Develop and distribute outreach materials, including brochures, flyers, and digital content.
- Marketing and Promotion:
- Collaborate with the PIO team to promote EVENTS AND EDUCATIONal programs through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and local media.
- Assist in developing marketing strategies to increase public participation and engagement.
- Administrative and Reporting Duties:
- Manage event budgets and ensure cost-effective planning.
- Track participation and feedback for EVENTS AND programs to assess effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience/Education:
-Currently enrolled in or completed a bachelor's or master's degree program in Communications, Education, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field.
-Experience in event planning, community outreach, or environmental education.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills.
-Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
Required License or Certificate:
-Valid California Class C driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
