The Office of International Academic Support (IAS) houses programs and services that ensure international students successfully transition to a new system of higher education. For some this entails improving their English proficiency, for other to improve their academic skills, and for yet others to receive support and guidance on how to register for classes. An intrinsic part of IAS's services is its tutoring program, which provides tutoring services free of charge to all international students across all of Pace's campuses. IAS is looking for a tutor to provide additional assistance with English language to international students who have either (1) been placed on academic probation due to failing to achieve the required GPA for progression or (2) expressed interest in improving their English skills.
Position Duties
- Assist students with all areas of English; grammar, writing, listening, speaking, or vocabulary.
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications
- Master's degree in TESOL; Applied Linguistics; English; Communications; similar required.
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Tutoring/ESL experience.
- Cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent communication skills.
Work Hours
Exact hours to be determined with supervisor; generally up to 20 hours per week.
