Our uniquely‐qualified team specializes in supporting municipal parking and mobility programs across the country, consistently proving our ability to identify and implement operations, management, and technology recommendations to transition municipal parking operations to long‐term, sustainable programs.
One of our key business objectives is to support our clients with the development of customized parking technology roadmaps that define current and future parking and transportation needs. We support cities with an array of services including parking studies, best practice comparisons, data analysis, incentive and pilot programs, TDM planning, financial modeling, stakeholder outreach, and developing technology, staffing, and wayfinding recommendations.
Job Summary
The Technical, Proposal and Content Writer (Writer) is responsible for the timely creation of technical documentation, updates, and standard operating procedures that support DIXON’s business processes. The Writer unites operational detail, project strategies, and bid compliance to create persuasive and succinct narratives to clearly communicate the company's individual value proposition customers. The Writer must be able to concisely and persuasively convey concepts, functions, features, and benefits of the products and services sought through RFPs along with content that promotes DIXON’s business.
This position translates business specifications into high‐quality written deliverables. A degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The Writer will develop and coordinate scope of work/fee proposals and RFP responses. This position should be considered if you are a self‐motivated individual, with independent work ethic, and are able to coordinate ongoing, short‐term, and long‐ term projects while simultaneously providing immediate, day‐to‐day contact with both our Clients and our Team Leaders.
Responsibilities and Duties
The specific responsibilities of the Writer may change from time to time, requiring cooperation and adaptability as the needs of DIXON’s customers evolve. DIXON reserves the right to change, without prior notice, the assignments, duties, and reporting relationships for the Technical, Proposal, and Content Writer.
- Read RFPs and, in consultation with DIXON staff team, articulate a strategy for response.
- Drafts RFP proposal responses, scope of work, and fee proposals;
- Develop and maintain template language and a bank of resources for future responses;
- Track the proposal process from request through delivery and assist DIXON staff with follow‐ups, schedules, and inquiries. Coordinate proposal team meetings and collect input from stakeholders.
- Translate technical information into clear, readable documentation in multiple delivery formats used by Technical and non‐technical users;
- Ensure consistency, clarity, and quality across all forms of documentation;
- Engage in formatting, editing, and quality assurance for all company work product;
- Receive text from staff and revise in a clear and concise style;
- Improve editorial and visual standards for documents and recommend new designs, layouts, and procedures;
- Coordinate multiple company projects at a time;
- Actively participate in project management, customer relations, business development, and company networking; and,
- Assist with other project duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing, Journalism, or another relevant field (Advanced Degree preferred).
- 3+ years of experience writing for proposals, marketing materials, and presentations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to translate complex operational concepts into a persuasive narrative.
- Ability to prioritize workload, solve problems, stay organized, and work in a fast‐paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, customer service experience, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Detail‐oriented, self‐motivated, and able to work in a deadline‐driven environment
- Willingness to take ownership of projects.
- Possess a professional demeanor and attitude, with an ability to adapt to changing conditions.
- Maintain highest level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Advanced Excel).
- Must be willing to travel.
