If so, Guardian is seeking a Proposal Content Strategist to drive the development of modular content for customer proposals, and pre-sale presentations for its Group Benefits insurance business.This is a hands-on position requiring excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; but also a role where you will draw on your content strategy experience to define and shape the library of our Qvidian proposal database for use in multiple formats including automated programming. You’ll review the usability of the database, create new records in support of new products/services, update existing content records, develop persuasive executive summaries, maintain exhibits and attachments, and answer questions from the team responsible for customizing and publishing over 2500 proposals.You are a trusted creative partner who leads by creating detailed project plans, pro-actively soliciting feedback, prioritizing work based on scope and deliverables, and frequently communicating with business partners to align on business goals, scheduling, and messaging.You areA self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. You know proposals – you’ve been there, and you understand the ins and outs of the proposal development lifecycle, from request-for-proposal (RFP) to finalist presentation. You are a technically proficient, and business savvy professional who can understand how to adapt a message to various audiences in the insurance industry, including brokers, employers, and employees. You understand a complex business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) model. With every piece of content you publish, you aim to empower, bring clarity, provide actionable insights, and educate each target audience.You haveEducation:Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, marketing, communications, creative writing, public relations, or a related fieldAssociation of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) accreditation desirableExperience:Proven proposal strategist with track record of building high quality proposals that drive sales7+ years of strategic proposal development, or persuasive marketing, preferably in the finance or insurance industryExperience with software such as Qvidian, RFPIO, Loopio, Xait, Seismic, Workfront, WelcomeExperience in B2B or B2B2C marketing or marketing in a complex selling channelExperience supporting a sales organizationProficiency with Microsoft Office’s product suiteYou willWrite content relevant to brokers and employers that is technically accurate, formatted for function in the appropriate systems, modular, and in simple language.Bring original strategic thinking to identify new opportunities for creating best in class Proposal Content with a planned cadence for refresh.Develop, execute, and manage senior level audit review, and general updates of all Proposal Content positioning to align with content assets at all levels of the sales funnel.Lead project planning for Proposal Content initiatives with appropriate involvement from Marketing Managers, Proposal Managers, senior leadership, and business SMEsDevelop and socialize detailed work plans with key dates, deliverables, and action steps enabling timely completion of work and alignment with proposal team expectations.Demonstrate an understanding of the business and proposal implementation processes and workload cadence (i.e., off season, busy season, preferred time to review and design product content)Establish relationships with the proposal team that embrace close collaboration while building credibility and trust to increase understanding of the reasoning behind writing and formatting decisions.Master assigned content areas and serve as a resource for proposal team members and other business partners.Document yearly Proposal Content plans, update them quarterly, and be able to articulate the strategy behind the planning to executive leadership.NOTE: this role does not write individual proposals. The position supports a team of proposal strategists who use the content in the database for custom opportunities. We aim at 80% of the content to be relevant to the opportunity from the database and the other 20% is handled by the proposal strategist. This is a content-heavy role, requiring superior writing skills, forward-thinking strategy, business acumen, and intense collaboration.Reporting relationshipsAs our Proposal Content Strategist, you will report to our Head of Content Marketing, Group Benefits; who reports to our Head of Marketing, Group BenefitsLocationThe primary location for this position is New York, NY (Hudson Yards), or Bethlehem, PA, or Holmdel, NJ with 3 days in the office each week.Holmdel, NJ, or Bethlehem, PA is also a possibilityTravel· 5% travel required for this position to attend quarterly in-person meetings at Hudson Yards in New York, NY and occasionally proposal or marketing meetings in Bethlehem, PA.Salary Range$79,350.00 - $130,365.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
