Description

A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or related field and five years of experience in management of institutional/commercial construction projects, and an extensive knowledge of building codes and building systems operation and design OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training along with professional certifications.

Description
Assists the Director for Campus Planning with the management of multiple capital and deferred maintenance projects as directed by Senior Administration. Serves as the Owner's on-site representative on a day-to-day basis for assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and manages the design, and construction of new building and renovation projects to meet established timelines and budgets.
- Assists in defining project guidelines, requirements, design/construction criteria, and budgets.
- Coordinates design and construction efforts among user groups, the operations, and maintenance team, the design team, and the construction team.
- Coordinates review of design documents by staff, user groups, and regulatory officials.
- Provides regular project updates, and status reports to staff. Oversees project close-out, and conducts post-project evaluations.
- Collects required close-out documentation, and forwards to the appropriate areas.
- Assists with record keeping, and project file management.
- Provides technical assistance to trades personnel regarding maintenance, and repair techniques, methods, and materials required to be in compliance with University standards.
- Completes University new employee orientation, sexual harassment, and all other required annual training within 30 days of the date of hire.
- Understands and complies with the University of New England Safety Manual.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Broad general understanding of current construction practices, methods, and materials.
- Broad knowledge of building codes. Ability to successfully research specific building code, and regulatory questions.
- General knowledge of major building systems, and how they operate.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Ability to understand the results of material testing, and sampling.
- Ability to understand warranties, and conditions which invalidate those warranties.
- Knowledge of techniques for construction scheduling.
- Knowledge of construction site administration.
- Must be very familiar with all aspects of the design process, able to direct the work of other team members, evaluate options, and make sound decisions.
- Must be able to work independently with clients to develop creative solutions and be able to implement the plan.
- Must also be able to successfully utilize all methods of communication to communicate clearly, regularly and effectively with all stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, Photoshop and PDF Document Management software desirable.
- Ability to oversee the work of contractors for adherence to contract and University policies related to such work.
