PROGRAM: New York State Elder Abuse Summit Implementation Initiative

STATUS: Exempt, full-time
Hourly wage: up to $24.62 per hour
SUMMARY
Facilitates and supports the implementation of the 2021 New York State Elder Abuse Summit Action Agenda, which focused on six historically Underserved Populations (Black/African American, Latino/a, LGBTQ+, Native American, New American/Immigrant/Refugee, and Rural Dwelling).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for achieving Summit goals and objectives.
1.0 Conducts statewide outreach to disseminate results of 2021 New York State Elder Abuse Summit (the Summit) and to implement the Summit Action Agenda.
1.1 Conducts virtual and in-person group and individual meetings throughout New York State to achieve the goals of the Summit Action Agenda.
1.2 Coaches and directs other department staff to assist in the Implementation project.
1.3 Convenes a statewide Advisory Group on a regular schedule representing key liaisons, service providers and advocates for underrepresented groups that were the focus of the NYS Elder Abuse Summit.
1.4 Works with the Advisory Group, UpEAC management, and Lifespan Senior Management on effective communication and implementation plan strategies regarding the Action Agenda.
1.5 Collaborates and coordinates activities with the subcontractor organizations and project staff selected to lead outreach and implementation efforts in the New York City/downstate region.
1.6 Develops innovative strategies to reach Underserved Populations and to create effective methods to provide access to elder abuse services in accordance with Summit recommendations.
1.7 Makes use of publicity, including social media and the NYS Coalition on Elder Abuse, to reach out to Underserved Populations and to support organizations that serve older adults experiencing elder abuse and those at risk within Underserved Populations.
1.8 Takes the lead in developing strategies to measure progress in achieving the goals of the Action Agenda.
1.9 Prepares reports for funders, the Advisory Committee, and for Lifespan Senior Management on progress around achievement of Summit goals and objectives.
1.10 Attends conferences, as the program budget allows, to network with others in the elder justice field and to make presentations/conduct workshops related to the Summit and elder justice activities.
1.11 Maintains data regarding Action Agenda activities and outcomes to assess the impact of the initiative on statewide efforts around elder justice and access to services for underserved/underrepresented older adult groups. Participates in program evaluation/research regarding Summit Action Agenda implementation.
1.12 Participates in and supports Lifespan's DEIBA initiatives.
1.13 Other duties as assigned by UpEAC management.
Requirements
QUALIFICIATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years' experience in Human Service. History of work with Underserved Populations preferred. Candidates representing Underserved Populations that were the focus of the NYS Elder Abuse Summit are encouraged to apply.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with a wide range of professionals.
- Good organizational and leadership skills.
- Occasional travel around the state is required for outreach and collaboration.
- A portion of the work is performed at a desk or at a personal computer station.
- The position will require an individual with solid leadership and organizational skills, as well as an ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Verbal, written and telephone communication skills are required.
- Strong written and computer skills needed.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain composure under strict deadlines and difficult situations.

If working less than 37.5 hours, accrued time is pro-rated.
