Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for budgeting, scheduling, and managing major design & remodeling construction projects to meet the annual construction program for the stores. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our team on a temporary basis, contributing to exciting projects and gaining valuable experience over a six-month assignment. In the event of any changes to the assignment, advance notification will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the VP of Design & Construction and the Director of Store Design and Equipment with department and project associated tasks of budgets, schedules, policies, programs, etc.
  • Participate, develop, and administer the company’s design, design plans, construction lists, and Construction program for store construction and remodeling.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive budgeting and project scopes of work including fixture plans and detailed specifications for all assigned construction projects.
  • Develop capital budgets for new stores and remodels. Responsible to forecast, monitor, and track results.
  • Develop, implement, and drive project scheduling including specific dates for all contractor and vendor work to be started and completed. Responsible to forecast, monitor, and track results.   
  • Make project recommendations on scheduling issues and change orders to control project costs and maintain project schedule.
  • Manage general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors through job site meetings and correspondence including meeting minutes.
  • Initiate and process vendor and operational change order requests and invoices.
  • Track and obtain construction vendor support and monitor performance.
  • Track and obtain all close out documents including as-builts, guaranties/warranties, etc.
  • Track and monitor all equipment deliveries with Dir. of Store Planning and Equipment Purchasing to avoid delays and added costs and coordinate installation.
  • Develop and implement process to follow-up on each project specific request, problem, and tracking report to monitor completion dates.
  • Create report to track all job costs.
  • Supervise, evaluate and develop all construction vendors.
  • Requires regular job walk visits and inspections to verify contractor progression on project.
  • Exemplify the desired culture, values and philosophies of the organization.
  • Communicate regularly and timely with, and provide assistance and guidance to departments regarding planning and Construction dates, and current and past issues
  • Work effectively as a team member with other members of the department, store personnel, management team, and the human resources staff.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS:

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Ability to manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving construction problems, vendor inquiries, store issues, and delivery problems.
  • Ability to direct construction vendors through complex and difficult issues
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of store construction and ability to effectively analyze factors concerning reliability, cost, quality, best method, scheduling, and safety.
  • Ability to make recommendation to effective resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate written reports and correspondences, and presentations to senior leadership as required and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
  • Extensive knowledge of store construction industry (minimum 5 years highly desirable).
  • Experience with supermarket construction, equipment and operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of information technology, including hardware and software applications, used in the equipment purchasing function.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition and stamina appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting for extended periods of time, inspecting stores, operating assigned office equipment, and other duties as assigned.

Salary - $106,571/yr - $170,513/yr.
