SUMMARY OF DUTIES
: The project change manager is responsible for using and improving existing enterprise tools, systems, and work processes to assist project management practitioners in effective management control and reporting on project and program changes on mega complexity projects. These positions work under close supervision of a senior level Controls Practitioner or PMO Director.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Track potential changes, ensuring impacts to budget, schedule, and other projects are given visibility with the client and project management.
  • Serve as a connector and engage with stakeholders at all levels to identify and socialize change impacts within assigned projects, across the greater program, and throughout the company.
  • Maintain change management tools, such as a tracker, repository, and additional Amtrak systems.
  • Support change requests and requestors through the full change management process.
  • Assist Project or Program Manager in evaluation and assessment of identified project risks to enable project team with applicable data for development of risk mitigation plans and contingencies.
  • Support the intake process of projects through the governance process.
  • Partner closely with business partners to assess new and ongoing projects to determine readiness for governance stage gates.
  • Work with Cost Engineers to review forecasting against budgets.
  • Support the governance and project status review meetings.
  • Manage change data via EPPM, SharePoint or any other approved EPMO systems and tools.
  • Adhere to Amtrak Enterprise Project Management methodology.

Required Skills & Work Experience

  • Working knowledge of and experience in project management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize large volumes of data as related to change management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills across all levels.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Associate degree with minimum of three years of practitioner experience with project management, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have work authorization in the United States.

Preferred Skills & Work Experience

  • PMP Certification in good standing.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Construction and/or Transportation.
  • Experienced SharePoint user.
  • Knowledge of contracts and contract administration including its assessment and implementation at each phase of the project.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Position Type: Full-Time/Regular


The salary/hourly range is $78,600 - $101,844. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
