Project Junior Estimator

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the preparation and delivery of cost estimates of services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of service. Ensures that new projects are completed in a timely and cost effective manner consistent with established PCI standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Preparation

· Prepare work to be estimated by gathering: 1) Specifications, 2) Bid schedules and 3) Plans (Bid America, Ebid, Bidmail, etc.).

· Submit RFI (Request For Information) to Agencies regarding any discrepancies from plans or specifications.

· Identify labor, material and time requirements by studying the plans and specifications.

· Research pricing and installation method on special material.

· Calculate prepared estimate with unit pricing or labor and material cost. For overall job estimate or cost.

· Drive jobs for bid or reference.

· Do aerial take offs if plans are not part of proposed estimate (slurry seal, grind-overlays, etc.)

· Create aerial photo plans for reference if no plans are available. I.E (Slurry Seal Projects)Public Works bids must be submitted the day before.

· Map out Thomas Guide locations.

Execution

· Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying a detailed itemized take off from plans and specifications.

· Set up Job in Jonas Accounting Software, (see checklist for details)

· Gather plans and details required to manage and complete project.

· Create Work Orders with itemized detailed take-off and material being used.

· Provide schedule calendar if required by Agency or General Contractor.

· Confirm measured quantities with Agencies if unit price billing applies.

· Resolve issues and solve problems pertaining to current work in progress throughout the project cycle and after project completion. Prepare any related correspondence.

· Maintain positive communication with customers via phone, e-mail, USPS, Job Walks and customer visits.

· Attend scheduled meetings as required (see checklist for details)

· Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.
