Project Control Analyst

JOB PURPOSE

The Project Control Analyst will assist the Project Management team in all duties related to financial and contract performance, planning, tracking, and reporting. This position works closely with both project management and staff as well corporate management and accounting departments.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintains project cost / schedule baselines and budgets
• Monitor project actuals, research and resolve issues and conduct analysis for contract costs and revenue
• Ensure accuracy of project-related expense reports and ensure timely processing
• Monitor outstanding project commitments (e.g., travel, subcontractors)
• Develop monthly project financial forecasts and conducts variance analysis
• Monitor the project’s burn rate against funding remaining, track multiple funding ‘streams’
• Perform monthly unbilled analysis, and completes quarterly submittals and follow up tasks
• Communicate project status and findings to project management team weekly at a minimum
• Document project status each month on SharePoint and other electronic platforms to support accounting month-end close process
• Earned value calculations and analysis for projects, if required
• Proactively monitor project timecards, ensure timecard errors are identified and corrections are processed in timely manner
• Provide input and develop pricing for over and above work as contractually required
• Initiate, monitor and maintain proper project setup in Quantum (ERP system) Form includes
• Establish and maintain project number structure, revenue and billing formula setup, project ceilings, labor categories, billing rates, rate sequence, project workforce, etc.
• Review and analyze prime contract, subcontracts, and agreements to ensure project meets financial and reporting requirements and assist with pricing and historical data collection as needed.
• Create and maintain project files in various electronic forms and databases
• Review material and subcontractor requests, assign funding, track committed and expensed costs for multiple contract types

Project A/R and A/P:

• Assist Accounting staff to ensure subcontract / vendor payments are processed and purchase orders are coded correctly and received in a timely manner as work is performed
• Provide customer specific invoice backup; create, review and approve invoices prior to customer submittal
• Monitor billing and payment status of customer invoices, research and resolve as needed

• Perform and submit monthly accrual calculations and other month end accounting processes
• Track contractual obligations and deliverables
• Identify and analyze project risk, assist PM with development QRAM
• Develop and execute internal and external project reviews
• Schedule updates, analysis, and reporting as requested
• Initiate Purchase Requisitions
• Generate and analyze financial reports for multiple contract types
• Perform other project accounting duties as assigned

SMS REQUIREMENTS

• Will provide top-level resources and support to SMS compliance, FAA regulations, safe workplace initiatives/practices, and to eliminate health hazards.
• Will consider all employee suggestions to propose solutions, and/or possible improvements for achieving a safer, healthier workplace.
• Will monitor, measure and track safety objectives to ensure performance standards are met and to implement continuous improvement measures.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education/Training:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business management required. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

• Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting related field
• Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and proactive
• Track record of delivering well-organized and accurate work
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability and experience in working with accounting, contracts, and project site personnel to accomplish tasks
• Proficiency with project reporting programs, Microsoft Excel, and other office software

Experience:  Two or more years’ experience working with Project Control and accounting support.

Other: May be required to work at both Marana, AZ, Tucson, AZ or Roswell, NM locations as business needs dictate.
