The Project Accounting Manager manages and oversees all aspects of construction and development accounting, budgeting, and analysis of tenant improvement and capital expenditure projects, supervises, trains, and motivates direct reports, builds strong working relationships with the property management team. The manager will support their team through clear and constant communication that enables the operators to make informed decisions based on a well-developed understanding of how financial results are recorded and accounted for. This manager uses professional concepts with company objectives to solve complex problems in compelling ways, works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluations of various factors, exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results as well as anticipates problems and takes action to prevent or minimize impact.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for leadership, supervision, hiring, and training Project Accounting staff.
- Develops, directs, plans, and evaluates current accounting policies and procedures.
- Recommends improvements as necessary.
- Provides key financial support, including internal and external reporting and month-end closing duties.
- Researches and resolves complex accounting transactions.
- Responds to Property Management team requests and questions regarding job costing.
- Responsible for quarterly capitalized payroll, capitalized interest calculations, and entries.
- Prepares quarterly fixed asset roll forward schedule.
- Prepares quarterly recurring/non-recurring capital expenditure spending calculations.
- Reviews and posts job cost-related journal entries.
- Maintains general ledger and construction/job costing accounting module.
- Oversees the setup and review of the Job Request Form.
- Oversees and manages the job cost reconciliation to ensure project balances are accurate.
- Oversees the closeout of projects upon project completion.
- Oversees the quarterly capital project accrual process.
- Manages project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
- Reviews monthly cash flow report for accuracy.
- Oversees and manages the timely uploads of fixed asset additions and reviewing acquisition & disposal reports.
- Provides support for the audit process by preparing timely and accurate schedules and analyses.
- Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, US GAAP, company policies, and procedures and creates a solid internal control environment.
- Miscellaneous projects as assigned.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- 5 to 7 years of related work experience. Prior accounting/finance experience is required; job cost experience in the construction industry is preferred.
- A good understanding of accounting principles and processes, including knowledge of accounts payable, receivables, and budgets.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with a high level of ability with Excel functions, shortcuts, and formulas.
- Strong focus on customer interaction and satisfaction; ability to maintain and establish effective relationships with internal and external customers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and research skills.

Salary Range: $120,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually USD (subject to relevant experience).
