AddressThe Project Accountant is responsible for the contractual and financial operations, and the support of DHM’s project teams, and estimating and accounting departments for our excavation and construction projects. The Project Accountant is responsible for organizing and processing all on-going daily accounting activities associated with our projects. This position reports directly to our CFO. Full-Time Monday to Friday position with overtime as needed.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create and maintain all records for contracts, change orders, billing, and obtain waivers. Need to have a clear understanding of contract types.
- Prepare monthly AIA contract billing/waivers.
- Set up contract project job numbers and follow project from start to finish.
- Set up new customers and maintain/update customer database as needed.
- Review and verify Estimator’s project data and prepare for entry into the system.
- Maintain change order log including pending, approved, and denied change orders.
- Prepare and communicate all contract pending change orders from the Estimating department.
- Prepare and communicate all contract pending T&M/UP change orders from Accts. Payable monthly.
- Work closely with DHM Superintendents, Estimators, and Project Managers.
- Communicate directly with DHM’s customers and with the General Contractors.
- Handle accounts receivable collections.
- Preparation of monthly WIP/Gross Profit reports.
- Notary work for Estimator’s bids and for billing. If not a current notary, obtaining status would be required.
- Provide detailed job cost reports to members of management.
Experience in the construction and/or excavating industry is preferred.
Working knowledge of job cost accounting principles is required.
Above average written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive manner.
Above average computer skills with a high level of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and be a problem solver in a fast-paced work environment.
High volume of data entry done with a high level of accuracy is required.
