Position: Project Accountant
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
The Project Accountant plays a critical role in our Heavy Highway firm by overseeing financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining cost control. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and clients. Vista Experience required. Power BI experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Manage project budgets and financial records.
Monitor project expenses and revenue.
Prepare and analyze financial reports.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Cost Control:
Track project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
Identify cost overruns and implement cost-saving measures.
Collaborate with project managers to develop WIP reports, backlog and cost budgets for new projects.
Invoicing and Billing:
Post client invoices accurately and on time.
Verify subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy.
Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve billing issues.
Cash Flow Management:
Manage project cash flow to meet financial obligations.
Forecast cash needs and coordinate with the finance department.
Financial Analysis:
Perform financial analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Provide recommendations to optimize project profitability.
Documentation:
Maintain organized project financial records.
Ensure proper documentation of financial transactions and project-related paperwork.
Key requirements:
Understanding of WIP report and percentage completion method of accounting
Proficient in Viewpoint Vista ERP, excel and all Microsoft products.
Candidate with knowledge of PowerBI has first preference.
Salary Range:
60K to 70K
