General Description:

Research new classes for the Workforce Development division, complete administrative tasks, and assists the Director of Workforce Development and Director of Tennessee Small Business Development Center in the day-to-day functions of the departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Workforce Development/Small Business Development:

  • Work with the Director of Workforce Development on completing yearly THEC reports.
  • Maintain the Workforce database and all records.
  • Schedule meetings when necessary.
  • Take meeting minutes.
  • Ordering and maintaining office supplies.
  • Assist with developing and coordinating Workforce/Small Business Development events.
  • Serve as a receptionist when necessary.

Course Development:

    • Develops and implements course programs for children and youth.
    • Responsible for Planning College for Kids, which includes developing classes, creating flyers, registration forms, class schedules, hiring Instructors and volunteers, ordering supplies needed for classes, securing classrooms, and responsible for securing sponsors for donations from local businesses.
    • Promotes online course offerings through print, electronic, and social media channels.

Marketing and Promotions:

    • Markets Workforce Development offerings through social media, electronic media, and traditional channels.
    • Creates marketing materials, including flyers, e-blasts, newsletters, course catalogs, and other items.
    • Promotes course offerings to relevant audiences.

Testing and Certifications:

  • Administers and Proctors PSI certification exams.
  • Make sure PSI testing stations are working properly and materials are up to date.
  • Check-in/out test candidates according to PSI standards.
  • Sends appropriate test materials to PSI through UPS.
  • Complete Updated PSI training when available.
  • Supplies CEU certificates to course completers.

Administration:

  • Completes necessary invoicing and purchasing for Workforce Development and Tennessee Small Business Development Center.
  • Deposits and records payments received.
  • Monitors budgetary spending for the division.
  • Creates monthly budget reports for the VP of External Affairs.
  • Manages online course registration systems.
  • Manages and Tracks the Apprentices in the Apprenticeship program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Sedentary: Desk work; travel will be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement.  Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

 Ability to work independently. Knowledge of basic office procedures; ability to establish an effective working relationship with students, the general public, and other school personnel.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

Associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum starting pay is $31,300 annually ($16.06 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum pay of $37,500.
