Job description

Program
Specialist, Promoting Employment Opportunities for Survivors of Trafficking (PEOST)

Location: Washington, DC

Full-Time, Non-Exempt Grant-Funded position

Hybrid schedule: Minimum 2 days per week onsite


Futures Without Violence (FUTURES) is a national non-profit social change organization that works to end gender-based violence against children, youth, and adults around the world. We’re a team of educators, strategists, fundraisers, trainers and grassroots organizers who develop programs that can change social norms, advance policy, and mobilize people to prevent violence against women and children.


DEPARTMENT AND POSITION

The Program Specialist will provide programmatic support to FUTURES’s Promoting Employment Opportunities for Survivors of Trafficking (PEOST) project), which is part of the Workplace and Economic Justice Team and FUTURES. PEOST is a national training and technical assistance project aiming to increase access to quality educational and employment opportunities for survivors of gender-based violence with an emphasis on the unique needs of survivors of human trafficking. PEOST provides, resources, training, and technical assistance opportunities to victim service providers and workforce development programs to achieve the following:

  • foster and/or strengthen cross-sector partnerships;
  • build the capacity to enhance services to promote greater access to quality employment opportunities for survivors of trafficking; and
  • promote economic empowerment strategies that support resilience and prepare survivors of trafficking for success when pursuing their education, training, and employment goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in program planning collaboratively with the project team on the following responsibilities:

  • Work with project team to implement work plans including drafting content for products and tools, responding to training and technical assistance requests, and supporting logistics for virtual and in-person trainings and meetings.
  • Identify and assist in conducting outreach to human trafficking organizations, workforce development programs, educational institutions, employers, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Partner with team to assess needs, identify emerging issues, and research and document promising practices to inform training and technical assistance.
  • Draft content for factsheets and guides, newsletters, project webpages, and web-based trainings.
  • Support the development, coordination, and facilitation of peer learning exchanges, office hours, web-based trainings, and other technical assistance opportunities.
  • Ensure that all products and activities are designed to be accessible for a variety of audiences.
  • Assist with completing programmatic accountability and compliance measures for grant agreements, operational guidelines, and program reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/training and experience Minimum of 3 years’ related work experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience with program development and the provision of technical assistance.
  • Experience coordinating web-based training and education programs.
  • Highly creative, entrepreneurial, and detail-oriented professional who with strong interpersonal skills who works collaboratively as part of a diverse team of dedicated professionals as well as independently as needed;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, creativity in problem-solving.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing
  • Commitment to racial and gender equity and economic justice and familiarity with and/or interest in workplace rights and access to education.
  • Superior attention to detail and command of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and Outlook, and familiarity with web content management systems (Articulate and Canvas).

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work at our Washington, D.C. office.
  • Essential functions of the position require making phone calls, working at a standard computer terminal, and the ability to follow reasonable ergonomic recommendations, sit for long periods, stand, reach, bend, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The pay rate is $75,000 /annually. This salary is based on a standardized compensation structure that is transparent across the organization. Please note that the salary is non-negotiable and like all positions at FUTURES, eligible for step increases as part of our commitment to thriving wages for all staff.
