Description of Major Duties:
The Division of Disaster Recovery and Mitigation (DRM) is seeking a motivated individual to assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funded programs. The Program Specialist will be required to maintain an understanding of applicable program policies, requirements, procedures, and guidelines for DRM’s resilient programs. The Program Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and managing various program tasks under the supervision of the Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
Develop policies and standard operating procedures as well as applicant-facing documents, training materials, and letters
Create and update Word, Excel, PDF, Adobe, and PowerPoint documents
Ensure compliance with established internal procedures and regulations
Analyze the strengths, weaknesses, and risks of existing program policies and recommend improvements
Evaluate internal operations, business practices, and techniques to determine optimal business solutions
Review and audit financial statements and invoices for accuracy and alignment with program policy
Evaluate project proposals and score applications using an established scoring rubric
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
3+ years of relevant experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
Great organizational and time-management skills
Ability to formulate strategies to create new and creative solutions
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Detail oriented
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with CDBG-DR funded projects
Experience working on new housing developments or infrastructure projects
