POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Research & Development Manager (PRDM), the Program Research and Development Coordinator (PRDC) contributes to the mission of Northwest Harvest by effectively coordinating programs in the pilot phase with a commitment to food justice, creative anti-hunger practices, and a communities-centered approach.

This position plays an important role in the research, development, and implementation of innovative pilot programs at Northwest Harvest by providing administrative and outreach support to the PRDM and pilot partners, utilizing effective communication skills with team members and stakeholders, and demonstrating a commitment to an iterative learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pilot Programming:

  • Coordinate contracts, financial disbursements, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) contact information and related communications, both internally and externally
  • Support relationship building efforts for pilot programs via engaging with community-based organizations, coalitions and committees, and a variety of stakeholders
  • Support data and metrics related to pilot programs and organizational strategies including metrics development, collection, implementation, and maintenance
  • Assist in implementation of supported learning and collaboration spaces internally and externally with pilot programs and associated stakeholders
  • Collaborate with PRDM and others to research potential pilot programs and related activities
  • Assist PRDM with creation of SOPs for pilot program processes and activities

Organization Engagement:

  • Participate in organizational strategic planning and evaluation as part of the Learning and Impact Department
  • Participate in Northwest Harvest cross-functional teams and committees on an as-needed basis
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with other Northwest Harvest departments and staff to achieve our organizational goals

  • Participate in intentional learning efforts, including events relating to understanding and dismantling institutional racism and building cultural competency 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Frequent contact with staff and leadership. Communication daily to receive and provide information, collaborate with teams, and participate in Program Research and Development related work.

External: Regular contact with stakeholders, community-based organizations, pilot program partners, professional associates, and various actors in the Washington State food system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A combination of the real-life experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.

Successful completion of a Background check is required.

Knowledge of:

  • Non-profit organizations and issues related to food, hunger, issues centered around poverty and hunger relief systems including but not limited to cultural and institutional racism and their impact on society
  • Thorough knowledge in managing data and maintaining data integrity
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office applications’ particularly Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook, Teams Adobe Acrobat and ability to work efficiently and effectively with other organizational platform such as ADP, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics NAV systems

Ability To:

  • Understand individuals who have experienced poverty or food insecurity
  • Demonstrate interest and commitment to supporting equity and inclusion for members of historically marginalized groups including racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQIA+ populations and people living with disabilities
  • Integrate equity principles and practices into all functions of role
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and organizational partners to foster mutual learning and accountability
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to speak truth responsibly, listen to understand and to discuss and explain complex issues with teammates, staff, and stakeholders
  • Craft and present materials including group communications, presentations, and reports to multiple audiences, both internally and externally
  • Ask questions and engage in continuous learning, with a focus on understanding on understanding the merits of different approaches while exercising a willingness to shift gears in response to demands of different situations
  • Be nimble and curious
  • Have and exercise a sense of humor
  • Travel within Washington State

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum (1) year of project or program coordination experience
  • Fluency in MS Office programs and ability to learn new databases and programs
  • Candidates with lived experiences of poverty or food insecurity, or strong connections with BIPOC communities (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) are strongly encouraged to apply.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience with a personal orientation as a life-long learner.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Non- Profit experience is desired but not required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Washington State driver's license


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation when needed. The employee may be required to to stand or walk for short periods of time; use of hands to finger, handle or feel; balance, bend and reach with hands and arms; use feet to operate foot pedal operation; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb ladders, sit, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
