Position: Program Director

Reports to: Director of Programs and Development

Supervises: Girls Inc. Identity Programs, Outreach Staff, Interns, Center Staff, and Volunteers assigned to those programs.

Status: Salaried *Exempt; Federal Mileage Reimbursement

Purpose of Job: The Program Director will develop strong foundational knowledge of current grants and programs, ensuring fidelity to the Girls Inc. Experience and adherence to program budgets. The Program Director will recruit and manage program and project interns and outreach staff. Program Director will ensure the entire team delivers high-quality, impactful programs, helping girls to achieve their full potential and grow up healthy, educated, and independent.

Position Summary: The Program Director is responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing Girls Inc. core curricula and current grants at all outreach-based sites including Knox,
Anderson, and Blount Counties. Additionally, the Program Director will supervise, train, and coordinate with all outreach and center-based program staff/interns, maintain and build strong community partnerships with schools and community organizations, and serve as an effective leader and advocate for Girls Inc. programs.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties Program Implementation:

● Develop program recruitment plans in collaboration with Executive Director, and ensure successful implementation of recruitment strategies
● Achieve program enrollment targets, and report enrollment metrics; Girls Inc. National tracking
Database
● Utilize the Girls Inc. Experience to oversee the planning and facilitation of assigned programs/grants
● Manage program planning projects and support the development of high-quality lesson plans
● Monitor program implementation to ensure success, and recommend program improvements
● Create a pro-girl learning environment that is safe, challenging, and engaging

● Create positive relationships with girls, parents, volunteers, and partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction
● Ensure necessary program data is collected to support grant outcomes and impact; participate in site evaluation visits as related to grant requests
● Represent Girls Inc. at community events to build awareness of the mission and programs
● Keep ahead of trends in youth development, specifically girls’ and women’s issues, to strengthen knowledge and support programming efforts
● Responsible for achieving the desired impact, as evidenced by quantitative and qualitative outcomes measurement and continuous program improvement Management and Supervision
● Provide training and development to develop and retain high-performing team members, empowering them to elevate their level of responsibility
● Provide regular feedback and conduct program observations and performance appraisals to develop, guide, and support staff/interns in achieving success in their job function
● Guide and monitor staff and volunteer performance by conducting weekly staff meetings to address issues and concerns and maintain positive collaboration among the team
● Maintain staff records to ensure accurate record-keeping and limit liability to the organization
● Recruit interns via the college's internal job recruitment board

Administrative
● Ensure compliance with all safety and program quality standards
● Monitor spending and adherence to program budgets to ensure consistency and accuracy
● Submit program reports as requested; maintain and submit required internal agency documents
● Maintain inventory of program supplies, and requisition supplies in a timely manner
● Maintain attendance records for participants and volunteers
● Ensure the proper collection of impact data and administration of outcomes surveys

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree required with a focus on education, social work, psychology, sociology, and/or child development.
  • 3+ years of work experience in youth development/management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to understand and execute complex instructions
  • Skill in working with diverse clients, staff, and communities; ability to facilitate cooperative work
  • Ability to work well with a variety of constituencies
  • Ability to communicate with youth and foster their involvement and participation in program planning problem solving, and decision-making
  • Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility with working hours and availability to work some evenings dependent on program/project

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment, and the physical ability to perform light lifting. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with program participants and stakeholders. Work is performed in an office or classroom setting. Employees may be required to travel to various locations throughout the multi-county served.

Conditions of Employment Employment by Girls Inc. for all positions is contingent upon successfully passing a criminal background check, including a sex offender check. Employees hired for positions requiring a valid driver’s license must be continuously insurable under the Girls
Inc. insurance policy throughout their employment.
