Under minimal supervision leads the management, development, and efficiency improvement of a Global Health Initiative program. Develops program staff and provides guidance and support in the planning, creation, administration and strategic direction of programs or initiatives. Sustains financially and expands the program, monitors, and advises the leadership on the implementation or improvement of procedures or key metrics aimed at meeting the department's goals. Supports day-to-day operations of clinical trials and studies.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for clinical trial logistical and regulatory support, data management, including scientific content and data validation. Monitors study progress and study protocol compliance.
- Writes and submits abstracts to national conferences and prepares manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed journals.
- Responsible for the overall coordination and management of the program including all projects and budgets within the program.
- Identifies funding opportunities and for the writing and submitting funding proposals.
- Sets long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program.
- Develops program and project evaluation frameworks to assess strengths and weaknesses of the program and projects.
- Reviews and analyzes program activities to assist and advise Program Coordinators regarding prescribed standards, practices, and procedures for achieving program goals; evaluates activities and makes recommendations to increase operating efficiency and ensure program objectives are met.
- Provides technical planning, assistance, and training to staff in the use of the department's project management platform for documenting outcomes and effectiveness of the concerned projects.
- Participates in the development of quality management practices and maintenance of necessary records and reports related to the projects.
- Monitors program activities on a regular basis and conducts an annual evaluation according to the evaluation framework.
- Provides direction to program staff and gives input for performance reviews as needed.
- Develops and monitors work plans for interns.
- Writes status reports on the program and projects for management and funders.
- Ensures that financial records for the program and projects are accurate and up to date.
- Reviews program and project expenses.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Reports to Global Heath Initiative Manager.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Policy, Health Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years progressively responsible experience in program leadership and operations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Minimum of one (1) year grant writing and management experience.
- Global health experience, preferred.
- Qualitative and qualitative research experience, experience in the collection, storage, and analysis of data, preferred.
