Job Title: Program Assistant, PREIS (GWA)

Job Summary:The Program Assistant, PREIS, supports AFG's mission, and its goal to serve at-risk youth in the Detroit community through school based, after school and summer programs focused on youth development and risk prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform community outreach. Travel to middle schools to recruit and enroll young girls in designated programming (Girls with Ambition or EmpowHer).
- Meet with participants and parents to answer questions about the program. Help participants fill-out an application and complete their enrollment packets, including signed consent forms.
- Assist with accurate and timely collection and entry of Prevention Department program data into database(s) that contribute to monthly, annual and hoc reports.
- Monitor the health and safety of program participants.
- Assist with developing program budgets and monitoring program expenses.
- Shop for needed program supplies.
- Pick up, deliver and serve meals and snacks, and clean/tidy areas of the building where activities take place.
- Create transportation routes and provide transportation to participants when needed.
- Assist program staff with the day-to-day operations of the Prevention Department, including workshops and field trips.
- Attend program related trainings and workshops.
- Provide support and backup to the facilitator position with participant programming, peer educators, and parent groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated Abilities:
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Conscientious with demonstrated reliability and attendance.
- Requires a high school diploma and 6-12 months of program support experience.
- Prior experience working with youth who are juvenile offenders, runaways, homeless or involved in high-risk activities, would be a plus.
- Must possess a current driver's license and a good driving record.
- Requires basic computer software and data entry skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
