Production Supervisor I

Our Mission: Since the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, our organization has aimed to connect people to the natural environment and human history.

Under minimal supervision, this position becomes an integral part of a project team and provides leadership for aspects of production department issues and responsibilities. It works with design and development and may engage in direct production activities as needed. The position reports to the Project manager when assigned and to the Production Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages all aspects of production on projects assigned.
• May work under a Project Manager on a larger project
• Works as part of the core project team of Department Managers, Designers, and Developers to produce budgets and schedules
• Attends and may initiate project planning and tracking meetings
• Provides direct supervision and training to the production crew Prep I, II, and III
• Provides a supportive environment for the project team.
• Participates in the long and short-range department planning and policies
• Participates in assigning grade 5,6 and 7 positions
• May engage in direct production activities as needed
• Performs other appropriate job duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience required, as well as demonstrated proficiency with shop tools, equipment, and carpentry techniques. The applicant must have an integrated understanding of the work activities of the department and at least three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: mount-making, carpentry, specialized fabrication techniques, replication, and knowledge of the structure
• The applicant must have administrative and supervisory skills
• Computer skills are necessary
• The ability to work as a team member and museum experience is essential
