Summary
Estes Energetics is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Goex black powder manufacturing facility. The Production Supervisor will learn and oversee all aspects of production, be responsible for organization and planning, and ensure the safety and training of direct reports. The ideal candidate must have the ability and willingness to operate production machinery, as needed, to maintain the production schedule. Additionally, they must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance staff, and coworkers to sustain production operations.
This job requires working with explosives. You will be required to wear work-specific clothes issued by the company and to shower at the end of each working day.
Essential Functions

  • Work safely by accurately following established standard operating procedures and adhering strictly to safety rules.
  • Train and coach employees on processes and procedures.
  • Ensure production staff have the necessary equipment and supplies to perform their duties.
  • Resolve production issues and escalate those that require management attention.
  • Conduct performance reviews and engage in formal performance/career development discussions with direct reports.
  • Troubleshoot issues effectively and relay technical information to management.
  • Communicate clear expectations and plans to all team members.
  • Lead daily manufacturing activities to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Lead process improvement activities, such as 6S and kaizen events.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and best practices.
  • Prioritize cross-training of employees to allow for flexible workforce allocation, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Investigate root causes, communicate findings, and initiate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to ensure accurate and timely communication, as well as effective planning for optimizing efficiency and the timely delivery of quality products.

Competencies, Experience, and Education
Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem analysis and problem-solving skills and ability to coach team members in developing these skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, coordinate and execute.
  • Ability to refine manufacturing processes to achieve continuous improvements in quality, delivery and cost.
  • 5 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with 3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses, including:

Be 21 years of age or older Pass pre-employment drug test Pass State and Federal background checks
Work Environment
The work will primarily be in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and some jobs require lifting 125 lbs. approximately 8" high from 1 cart to another periodically.
  • Comfortable sitting, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Exposure to industrial machines, heat, cold, and explosives
  • Frequent movement through a manufacturing environment
  • Use of personal protective equipment appropriate to the work location

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical workdays are a '4x10' schedule, 10 hours per day, 4 days per week. Employees are expected to work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Overtime may be required during busy periods.
