Job Summary:
Production Shift Supervisor to manage and direct workflow. They are to manage the operational aspects of their shift and coordinate all administrative functions of their respective groups including but not limited to paid time off, disciplinary actions, training and training records, and employee reviews. They will coordinate and record all training in the proper procedures and operation of the production equipment. They will be responsible for designing and implementing continuous improvement projects across the breadth of the production floor and will be responsible for efficiency improvements and defect reduction within their teams. This position will report directly to the Production Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments to hourly staff.
Coordinate with other departments to maintain production schedules.
Inspect products and processes, ensuring the meeting of quality standards in accordance with customer and company specifications.
Act as a resource to other departments to address and resolve inquiries and problems related to assigned functions.
Keep management informed on general conditions and on matters of importance which could impact quality, cost, safety or employee morale.
Attend and actively participate in all assigned meetings.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Ensure the completion of all required records, paperwork, reports, documents, etc.
Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
Must be mechanical, working supervisor able to work under pressure.
Ability to work flexible hours and weekends when needed.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and intermediate computer usage skills.
Ability to think ahead and plan for manufacturing to meet deadlines.
Ability to schedule quick turnaround work without affecting current scheduled work.
The ability to accept suggestions from subordinates
Ability to make decisions "on the fly."
Requirements
Bachelor's degree OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Zero to two years of related work experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing or plant environment.
Safety/OSHA/Fire Safety/Defib training a plus
Strong leadership skills and the ability to take initiative.
Process engineering experience.
5S and Lean Manufacturing knowledge and/or experience. Six Sigma qualification is not required but a plus.
Good interpersonal skills to interact with customers and employees.
Strong organization skills to balance and prioritize work.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multi-task and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
Excellent verbal, telephone, and written communication skills.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, preferably extensive Excel skills.
