THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Production Supervisor oversees all production related functions of the production area. Supports and gives direction and guidance to Production Group Leads and employees so they can perform work effectively and efficiently. The Production Supervisor leads continuous improvement projects as well as working closely with the General Manager on the implementation, improving and sustaining of Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Assists in resolving internal or external issues to the department while bringing continuity between shifts and departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· · Lead C.I events, support Group Leads in implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing tools.
· Provide leadership and direction to the Production Group Leaders and Employees
· Assist with monitoring all daily functions of the production area with respect to production output, customer service, daily priorities, scrap management, quality, and production processes.
· Work with General Manager to ensure efficiency targets are being met and constantly looking to improve them.
· Monitor and manage shift priorities, deliveries and setting up staff accordingly to meet deadlines.
· Ensure employees follow established procedures throughout manufacturing processes using required materials and tools.
· Perform shift change communication with Group Leaders outlining work accomplished, workload, production issues and delivery priorities.
· Work collaboratively with support departments and General Manager in the attainment of DSM’s business goals.
· 1st point of contact with DSM support groups for production issues to resolve minor problems and applies the support escalation procedure for both on and off hours.
· Able to interpret Quality “IPC” and customer requirements to make off shift calls in the absence of QA and report issues when support arrives.
· Work with the General Manager to oversee the training for all employees in specific area(s) – identifying and addressing training requirements/gaps, coaching, and providing continuous feedback to ensure employees understand what required skills and knowledge they need to effectively perform work.
· Collaborate with the Human Resources to resolve minor issues or conflict within the teams.
· Advocate for DSM’s health and safety program – ensuring all safety guidelines are being followed, interpreting safety data sheets (SDS) for employees, and making recommendations to current processes.
· Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with DSM’s policies and applicable laws.
· Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma or GED and 10+ years of on-the-job training/experience.
· Previous leadership, project management or involvement in continuous improvement programs.
· Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts and training highly desired.
· Analytical and strong problem solver – able to identify, escalate and effectively resolve issues using root cause analysis tools.
· Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Able to learn and become proficient in the use of an ERP system and other databases.
· Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills - ability to convey information clearly and concisely in a timely and accurate manner.
· Excellent organizational skills – ability to multitask and effectively prioritize and perform tasks efficiently.
· Self-directed and can work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
· Available to work rotating shifts (days, afternoons, midnights) available for periodic overtime.
