Job Description
As Production Supervisor, you will lead and develop your own team of associates; you will be motivating, mentoring, and coaching your team. You will be responsible for engaging with your team members during the shift to maintain the highest levels of workplace safety, product quality, and operational performance. You will be expected to provide your associates with the tools needed for success in addition to driving productivity and efficiency through data-based decisions, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous process improvement.
Job Functions:
- Supporting all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe workplace
- Leading and developing teams of associates to run assigned production lines
- Developing performance goals and objectives to meet operational requirements and exceed customer expectations
- Learn how all production lines work and proactively identify leading process improvement initiatives
- Executing productivity plans by reviewing daily and weekly work forecasts, attaining production goals, and partnering with other managers to efficiently staff all needed production lines.
- Takes the lead in identifying performance issues and providing guidance, coaching and progressive discipline as needed.
- Communicates issues encountered such as raw material problems, finished product rejections and equipment malfunction to the VP of Operations & Technology as well as quality control and maintenance.
- Partnering with the quality assurance team to establish and maintain quality control standards in accordance with Safe Quality Food requirements
- Working with staffing agencies to ensure outside staffing meets production expectations
- Communicating company policies to associates and acting as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance and consistency and taking corrective action when needed
- Collect data and produce the daily Start-Up and End of Shift reports
You will be required to engage in physical work activities. These activities include the following:
- Lifting and moving ingredients and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
- Standing and walking for up to 10 hours a day
- Frequent walking in and around the building and walking in and out of walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Climbing and descending ladders, stairs, and platforms safely and without limitation
Job Tasks:[CJL1]
- Verify equipment cleanliness
- Complete line set up prior to cooks arriving on premise (5am)
- Verify all active line pump speeds
- Verify completion of production paperwork
- Complete End of Shift Report
- Complete Start Up Report
- Report any equipment malfunctions and issues to direct report
- Report any Sanitation issues observed during shift transition
- Manage effective time clock management/breaking
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's Degree or 2+ years supervisory experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Work a flexible schedule or shift; this may include Saturdays, nights, and holidays as needed
- You take ownership in your work and team and are available to work overtime during as needed to meet customer expectations and operational requirements.
- You live in or are willing to relocate to the Chicago area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Food Science or a related field.
- Ability to converse, give direction, and complete projects in both Spanish and English
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Leadership qualities that are exhibited every day.
- Experience in managing a team of employees and leading process improvements
- Pride in yourself and team leading abilities; you have direct management experience and have been responsible for your team’s performance
- Management experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Analytical work using data to provide practical solutions
- Volunteer to lead projects and help your team achieve goals - you have a track record of taking ownership and driving results
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, and when given a deadline you know how to motivate yourself and your team to meet it
