Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the incumbent performs a variety of physical and mental tasks associated with operations necessary for the production of Oriented Strand Board. The incumbent must be thoroughly familiar with all safety practices associated with the press area as well as all press operations, functions and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Assume responsibility for press operations and functions to maximize production of OSB consistent with established standards and criteria.
- Monitor all facets of press operations.
- Monitor and track all press loads and operational downtime.
- Monitor wood, resin, and wax usage.
- Monitor and maintain established levels in surge bins, weigh scales and forming heads.
- Monitor press temperature and hydraulic oil temperature.
- Minimize off grade production.
- Make operational adjustment necessary to maximize OSB production to the highest quality standard.
- Have a thorough understanding of established safety procedures to include lockout/tag out, personal protective equipment and hazards applicable to press operations.
- Aid in the general maintenance of the press and associated equipment.
- Perform daily operational checks as required.
- Guide others in troubleshooting problem areas and assist as necessary in taking appropriate corrective action to ensure operational continuity.
- Communicate with other operational areas as necessary to maximize operational efficiencies.
- Provide training, as necessary, to familiarize others with press operations.
- Perform general housekeeping duties necessary to ensure safe operations.

- Strong Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to perform simultaneous tasks.
- Basic understanding of computer operations.
- Ability to accurately monitor and record data.
- Possess a working understanding of Dryer, Finishing Line and QC operations.
- Eligible to legally work in the United States
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work as part of a team and deliver value to the team
- Willingness and ability to cross-train to learn new jobs and skills
- Consistent, predictable attendance
Ability to perform mathematical functions utilizing addition, subtraction, division, percentages and fractions.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to readily identify operational problems and/or malfunctions and be capable of taking appropriate corrective action.

- The incumbent must be able to perform duties in a time sensitive environment.
- Incumbent must be able to work rotating shifts.
- Incumbent must be able to wear personal protective equipment to include hearing protection, safety shoes, safety glasses, hardhat, face mask/respirator.
- Must be able to endure prolonged periods of standing, walking or sitting.
- Pushing/pulling may be required for weights up to 200 lbs. Dollies, hoists and lifts are provided to facilitate this activity and the incumbent must be familiar with the operation of such equipment.
- Occasional requirement for reaching, twisting, grasping, bending kneeling and crawling.
- Ability to climb ladders and to work at heights.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis from floor level to a height of approx. five feet. Assistance in the form of additional manpower, automated or mechanical equipment is available to facilitate lifting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Incumbent will be required to work primarily indoors at a console to control press operations.
- Incumbent will be required to work in a dusty environment wearing appropriate protective equipment/clothing.
- Incumbent will be exposed to a variety of noise levels and the use of company provided hearing protection is mandatory.
- Incumbent will be working primarily in an air conditioned or heated work area.
- Incumbent may expect to be exposed to high temperature areas from time to time.
