Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that safety related items receive the highest priority.
- Follows all Safety Procedures at all times.Makes recommendations to improve areas as appropriate.Promotes ‘Safety First’ to the production crew.
- Primary technical responsibility for day-to-day production demands.
- Establishes manufacturing standards, monitors actual plant performance, and makes proposals for improvement.
- Actively participates in cost and productivity improvement activities.
- Contributes to the training of operators, production supervisors, and others as required.
- Manages process data acquisition and distributed control systems.
- Prepares production cost estimates and production progress reports for management.
- Supports plant trials as necessary to establish optimal process parameters in terms of safety, quality, operating, efficiency, and capacity.
- Supports upgrades to the DCS / PLC systems by making simple modifications and supporting larger, more complex changes with internal and external resources.
- Assists in commissioning of new plant equipment and in troubleshooting of existing processes.
- Actively participates in and complies with the site’s Management of Change process.
- Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, permits, or standards.
- Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
- A minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience in chemical manufacturing required.
- Basic knowledge on PSM (process safety management).
- Experience with batch processes, organic liquid processing (reaction and mixing) and filtration technology is desirable.
- Experience with process instrumentation, controls, and associated computers a plus.
- Experience with Alkoxylation and Esterification (core chemistries at the facility) a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
