Design Engineer
Springfield, Illinois - Direct Hire
Productive Resources (www.productiverseources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our customer's team at their facility in Springfield, IL. This person is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of components, assembly modeling, and detailed drawing creations of products using 3D CAD tools (SOLIDWORKS). You may require direction from a variety of levels of leadership including Designers and Project Engineers. You will assist with creating and changing SAP Bills of material and documenting the changes on an Engineering Record. Functions in a team environment and facilitates CAD data management and communication.

Duties:
- Accurately change or construct detailed CAD component models, assembly models and drawings.
- Construct working detail drawings, assemblies and systems working from sketches, design layouts or electronic files received from Project Managers and Designers.
- Document Engineering changes with direction from management.
- Utilize interpersonal skills and communication skills to contribute to a team environment.
- Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Accept responsibility for the accuracy and tolerance of models, assemblies, and drawings.
- Possess or develop sound knowledge of tolerances, notes and material specifications required for all types of drawings.
- Participate in prototype builds to assure accuracy of Bills of Material.
- Participate in problem-solving and proactively finding innovative solutions to electro-mechanical design and production problems.
- Provide technical guidance and direction in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements and the procurement and use of CAD files.
- Assign new part numbers, construct, and complete Bill of Materials and construct electronic Notifications of Changes as required.
- Participate in Quality Improvement Process.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree.
- Additional education in operation of 3D CAD tools with demonstrated proficiency in operation and use of 3D CAD tools.
- Knowledge of industry standards with mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Must be able to work well under pressure while maintaining good judgment and organizational skills.
- Ability to accept and manage change and adversity.
- Balance a workload comprised of multiple projects and assignments without missing timelines.
- Possess good organizational skills and work accuracy.
- Work well with others and produce results in a team environment.
- Be motivated, creative and flexible and an effective communicator.
Preferred:
- SAP and Excel experience is a plus.
