Position Description:
Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer – Internal Combustion Engine Propulsion & Thermal System Engineering (IPTSE) and Underbody System Engineering (UnSE). This PVT Engineering position is a member of Product Development. The PVT Engineer is 'first line of defense' with regards to Quality for the Explorer, Aviator, and Police Interceptor products produced at CAP. The PVT Engineer has responsibilities associated with analyzing and improving the quality of the vehicles: -Review incoming warranty claims data daily, review customer and dealership comments, bin claims into proper categories, contact dealerships for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer inputs in Quality surveys, review returned parts for root cause analysis and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions. -Supporting assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analysis and other Quality issues. -Maintain sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level Quality documents and drive the achievement of quality targets. -Lead engineering design changes for future minor product launches. -Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners for sub-system components to address quality concerns -Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system -Issue engineering Alerts and initiate & pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives -Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality -Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers’ reviews)

-Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills -Ability to establish a systems engineering approach to problem solving -Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills -Excellent presentation/communication skills -Proficiency in Microsoft Office -Engineering Problem Solving; root cause identification and analysis, developing Containment Actions and Permanent Corrective Actions -Working in a fast-paced challenging environment.
Skills Preferred:
Six-Sigma Training (green belt or black belt)
Experience Required:
Experience in automotive or manufacturing industry
Experience Preferred:
Experience with automotive systems, especially chassis, suspension, braking, powertrain. Change management experience.
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering required
