Production Control Specialist – Rotational Program

We are looking for a Production Control Specialist to join our Farris team!

As our Production Control Specialist, you will develop and manage the execution of the assembly schedule to achieve forecast as orders are released to the stock room for assembly, taking into consideration the available capacity and program delivery due dates for the month and quarter. You will communicate to the planning team and customer service the manufacturing status of all WIP and expected completion dates to achieve On time delivery to the customer.

The Supply Chain and Operations organization includes functions such as Demand and Supply Planning, Inventory Management, Production Control, Customer Service and planning and Logistics. The professionals within the organization plan for raw material requirements in support of production processes, planning new valve assembly, and forecasting spare part requirements. Additionally, they are engaged in various processes facilitating the delivery of pressure relief valves, the continuous improvement of processes, and activities involved in the improvement of Supply Chain and Operations. .

Location: Brecksville, OH

Program Highlights:

  • Two year, four six-month rotations, within the Supply Chain and Operations discipline

  • This program includes on-site roles and requires at least one rotation onsite.

  • Cross functional learning across Supply Chain and Operations

  • Networking between all Functions - Engineering, Sales, Production, Supply Chain, Finance

  • Assignment of a peer mentor/ on-the-job coach

  • Second Rotation- Green Belt training and project in functional area

  • End of rotation report-outs to leadership team in Supply Chain and Operations

  • Final role placement within Supply Chain and Operations discipline based on business needs along with team members interests.

  • Greenbelt training and project training and completion

Your Challenge

  • Liaison between planning and operations, responsible for schedule execution and working closely with production supervisors to ensure schedule adherence and recovery if required

  • Partners with assembly, engineering, shipping and customer service to schedule and effectively manage production to meet customer commit date and maximize resource utilization with a defined Project Schedule

  • Provide input on progress reports/gantt charts as it relates to the Project plan

  • Take lead on driving action on disruptions to eliminate downtime (inventory error or scrap shortages, MRB, internal labor and external constraints- paint)

  • Works cross functionally to rectify defective or unacceptable goods and subsequent plans to replace

  • Advises management and planning of the status of work in progress and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials & services are provided as needed to achieve Project due date

  • Investigate problems related to material flow, constraints and analyze root causes, and derive solutions

  • Plays an integral part of product flow by effectively interfacing with internal customers on a daily basis, schedules/expedites the movement of parts and assemblies from work center to work center and to shipping

  • Analyze, plan, reschedule and replan orders in assembly and change the production schedule finish date (MP date) to reflect latest commitment

  • Develop positive relationship with internal operations and planning team to meet productivity goals and improve processes

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in Operations/Engineering or Supply Chain Management Preferred

  • Project Management Certification preferred

  • 3 years of planning or scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of degree

  • Thorough understanding of the following: various production planning and inventory techniques and practices, Capacity Planning, various forecasting techniques and their application

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and networking skills

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent partnering and team building skills

  • Project Management Certification or minimum 3 years’ experience with Mircrosoft project or similar
