The Role:

Currently we are seeking to hire a Product Engineer to join our St. George, Utah team. As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for collaborating on the conception, design and construction of core Lovesac branded product innovations.

You will work closely with the company's founders, cross functional partners, and the product design team to execute on new product initiatives while leveraging your knowledge and experience in engineering, analysis, design process, CAD, materials and manufacturing. You will augment our internal design team's capabilities while also providing guidance to outside partners and create the future of the brand.

This position is considered hybrid and will report into Lovesac Corporate Headquarters based in Saint George, Utah. It will require a hybrid schedule calling for your flexibility to work onsite at the designated HUB in addition to travel required by the Company for occasional meetings and conferences.

 

Summary of Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Adopt the Lovesac DFL (Designed for Life) philosophy and use it to guide your design.
  • Design Engineering Follow a specific development process to help design furniture and home accessories including, but not limited to wood, plastic, metal, foam, composites, electronics, lighting, fabric, etc. Create accurate 3D models, drawings using Solidworks on a daily basis to help facilitate injection molding, manufacturing, sourcing and quality control.
  • Own and manage several projects concurrently from end to end (design concept to production) from an engineering perspective.
  • Validate your designs through testing/evaluation methods that you develop.
  • Create detailed production drawings and other data, and communicate those to the factories and the production team, so they can produce high quality product accurately.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contact factories and suppliers both overseas and domestically in sampling, designing, and execution of new product launches. Manage communication with 3rd party factory project managers, technicians and engineers through the sampling and production phases to ensure timelines stay on track for launch.
  • Establish QC test criteria and plans for production. Purchase and expedite test equipment if needed.
  • Troubleshoot production launch issues and approve items through a specific product launch process.
  • Prototype your designs using various methods and materials. Use and maintain 3D printers, metal/wood working tools, test equipment and general shop tools.
  • Work collaboratively with the design and marketing teams to create products that meet or exceed the conditions of research informed product briefs.
  • Manage and maintain the organization of design files.
  • Conduct basic cost estimates and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet budgets.
  • Must be able to travel using various forms of transportation, as required by the Company in its sole discretion, for meetings and conferences held either at our offices or offsite (i.e. quarterly team connection weeks, companywide meetings, vendor visits).

Qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • This position is required to be located in our St. George Utah Office location
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in designing consumer products or furniture. Direct experience in plastics design, furniture, and mechanism design, consumer electronics/audio equipment, and home automation is preferred.
  • Experience programming and building prototypes utilizing Arduino, or similar electronics prototyping is a plus.
  • Machine shop experience including CNC machining, welding, woodworking is a plus.
  • Prototyping skills: including 3D printing, woodworking.
  • Experience designing and prototyping looks like and works like mechanisms is a requirement.
  • Able to listen, take direction and utilize input to solve problems, anticipate issues and make correct decisions.
  • Must have solid experience with Solidworks and/or Creo: modeling, assemblies, drawings, GD&T, injection molding design, FEA and other simulation tools, Sheet Metal etc.
  • Proficiency utilizing MS Office: Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint. Experience with Wrike a plus.
  • Design for manufacturing, knowledge of materials, rapid visualization, contextual research.
  • Must take accountability and responsibility for your actions.

  • Must comply with the standards, policies and procedures outlined in the Lovesac Employee Handbook.
  • Must be capable of using and operating all equipment as required, including but not limited to: iPad, laptop, etc. Be able to move objects (including medium to large furniture items up to 75 pounds) from a lower to a higher position or horizontally from position-to-position or be able to assemble furniture while working on the selling floor or in our warehouse.
  • Must be able to travel, as required by the Company in its sole discretion, for occasional meetings and conferences using various forms of transportation.
  • Consistent ability to work both remotely and report into Corporate Headquarters or designated retail touchpoint, as required and in accordance with Lovesac policies, CDC and State Guidelines.
