ITnova is looking for a Product Designer responsible for designing and executing new concepts for the agency’s online portals. These include but are not limited to our websites, mobile applications, and the content that resides within them.
Period of performance: March-December 2024
Location: hybrid with onsite work at 2 Montgomery Street, Jersey City NJ with possible meetings at other Port Authority Facilities in the NY/NJ area
Experience and qualifications
Candidate must have 5+ years professional experience in front-end-web development, web-based design and publishing, in a design studio or agency environment, Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Master of Sketch and the Creative Suite, or MFA in graphic design, and 3 years professional experience
- Experience in client services strongly preferred
- Ability to explain and sell design decisions to clients and stakeholders
- Experience building interactive and /or dynamic applications
- A track record of consistently great work, and a portfolio to prove it
- Proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Sketch
- Knowledge of HTML, mobile-first design/responsive web design. After Effects or motion design a plus.
- Ability to create wireframes and sitemaps.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize your time based on team needs.
- On set photoshoot experience, knowledge of photography, and retouching a plus.
- Expertise in mobile responsive design / building responsive email templates
- Candidates must also possess the following:
- Strong UX and design sensibilities, and a desire to sweat the small stuff
- Technical background with expertise in engineering principles and design patterns

Job Responsibilities
The Product Designer will be responsible for developing and executing creative /visual concepts for the agency’s online communications and mobile portals. This position will also be responsible for managing and updating content in our mobile portals. Under the direction of the Manager, Digital Customer Service/Web Service the selected candidate will:
- Participate in strategy and brainstorm sessions to understand user behavior, needs, and pain points including clients, to provide creative input, help articulate their vision, and define goals
- Manage the schedule and update changes to “static” copy to ensure consistency with changes to the PA brand.
- Contribute wireframes, user flows, interaction prototypes, and other design specification materials.
- Work closely with developers to turn your designs into real products, prototype designs using wireframes & low-fidelity mockups. You’ll wireframe and prototype designs that address the project goals while staying within the requirements
- Design compelling web, app, and email experiences. You’ll partner with our department managers to select a direction from the prototypes you create and then you’ll turn it into a high-fidelity design that you can hand off to the developer.
- Maintain brand consistency across all the agency’s portals (apps, websites, emails) and adhere to design guidelines.
- Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to gather user feedback and validate design decisions. Make necessary adjustments to improve usability.
- Partner with a front-end developer to bring your designs to life. You’ll work directly with a front-end developer to convert your designs into HTML, CSS, and Java script.
- Ability to design attractive, useable web pages and application UX mockups in Illustrator, Sketch, or the program of your choice.
- Experience wireframing & iterating on designs based on user feedback.
- Experience working with JavaScript, HTML, & CSS is helpful but not required. • Design beautiful user interfaces, with a focus on native mobile
- Promote best practices in UI, UX, and interaction design
- Ensure brand consistency
- Ability to execute against the current corporate design standards
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, agile team-based environment
- Collaboration and communication skills with the management, agile, creative, production and technical team members
- Skills creating look and feel explorations sketches and mood boards, high and low fidelity mockups, and design work presentations

Pay: $148,079.75 - $151,230.38 per year
