Under limited supervision, the Procurement Manager assumes full buying responsibility for selected categories, focusing on the beef and pork categories. Other areas of responsibility include price negotiation, planning, production, and inventory control in the proteins category.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enables brands to efficiently and effectively maximize the value they receive from suppliers
- Conducts the RFP process, bid analysis and review, contract negotiations, and blanket purchase agreement creation Develop/execute purchasing strategies for products including monitoring macro trends in supplier base, implementing plans to react, and developing/executing purchasing strategies for products
- Identify and realize cost-savings and cost-reduction opportunities
- Develop ideas for cost savings initiatives within owned categories Evaluate potential margin initiatives, document with business case and champion change in support of department/company initiatives.
- Minimizes risk of supply disruption
- Identifies supply and supplier issues. Analyzes information to assess root cause, improvement opportunities, and associated risk. Develops solutions and gains consensus to resolve supply issues.
- Build strategic relationships
- Build relationships with supplier working team / contacts. Builds collaborative relationships with Brand Core Team / Directors. Understand Brands' needs and build supplier relationships to meet those needs.
- Monitors purchasing performance
- Participates in S&OP process and coordinates supplier's production to meet demand. Monitors supplier performance and completes supplier scorecard.
- Leads high performing team
- Supervises, coaches, and develops the members of the purchasing/sourcing team. Ensures quality execution of the performance management process and personal developmental plans.
- Other responsibilities as assignment by management
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4-Year degree in a related field
- Master's or Graduate degree preferred
- 3+ years in supply chain, procurement, and/or management. Prefer animal agriculture background and experience. Willing to train supply chain skills for someone possessing an appropriate level of subject matter expertise in beef/pork.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES
- Experience in procurement and negotiation strategies
- Understand and function effectively in a team environment
- Proven track record of success in leadership positions
- Restaurant / Food Service/ Protein industry experience required
