The Role
The GM Lockport Components Team is looking for a talented and highly motivated engineer to fill a Controls Engineering role in the Forward Program Group. This position will be responsible for the design and implementation of manufacturing processes for primary parts, pre-braze assembly and brazing of heat exchangers in both EV and ICE future vehicles. As a Controls Engineer you would be working in a team environment including other Process Engineers, Controls Engineer, Product Engineers, outside suppliers, and UAW hourly team members to help develop and implement tooling and equipment to achieve flawless launches on our new programs.

What You’ll Do
- This position would involve occasion travel to tooling and equipment suppliers
- Configure, program, test and troubleshoot PLC based control systems and associated components
- Support and actively interact with manufacturing, maintenance, and quality groups
- Continuously improve quality, cost, responsiveness & safety
- Apply your technical expertise in order to deliver automation equipment supporting GM manufacturing processes
- Implement standards and procedures as you work along side with automation system suppliers to coordinate machine modification needs with engineering and maintenance
- Develop, debug, and troubleshoot control logic programs or robot programs along with other related functions at either the supplier or plant site
- Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology.
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Minimum 2+ years of Controls experience in manufacturing environment
- PLC experience with ladder logic, and schematics
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- This position will require overtime and off-shift production support
What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Proficient in GM Controls Architecture
- Proficient in FANUC robotics
- Experience with Vision, Servo Drives, HMI’s
- Safety Certification for Safe Equipment design
The salary range for this role is $77,500 min and $116,300 max. The actual base
salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
