SalaryThis individual will be expected to work out of our Downtown Austin HQ. We are following a hybrid office/work from home model (three days per week in-office/two days work from home).

Summary:
As a Product Design leader, you will provide direction, and mentorship for a team of Product Designers for both consumer-facing products, as well as internal, enterprise products. As leader, you will help to cultivate creative culture, guide high-impact design work, and lead a team of talented multidisciplinary designers with a focus on broader operational results. The role is perfect for someone with a passion for human-centered design, deep empathy and who can motivate and inspire a collaborative group of UX thinkers.
Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day guidance and leadership for UX/UI Design Team Members.
- Oversees the creation of team member's individual goals to align with department goals and defines success outcomes.
- Encourages innovation and curiosity. Leads by example by bringing ideas to the table and encouraging team discussions. Rewards enthusiasm for solving business and user challenges.
- Work closely with designers, researchers, product managers, developers, brand, and leadership to develop a shared understanding of the user experience within the team.
- Oversees the full range of UX/UI Design activity, including:
- Providing UX/UI analysis, design, and development services across new and ongoing initiatives, platforms, and delivery channels,
- Delivering creative concepts to bring the WFM brand to life across platforms, apps, web, and other channels,
- Developing / communicating app and site structure and user paths.
- Ensures ‘ideal’ projects are balanced against technical constraints, business objectives, and operational processes.
- Engages with designers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective integration with and support of team initiatives and associated activity.
- Engages with users on a regular basis to ensure understanding of expectations, experience, issues, and concerns.
- Leads team efforts to evaluate consumer, demographic, and other data to understand design principles, applications, and results.
- Be an internal and external thought leader that manages and provides support to direct reports in design methodologies, extending the team’s influence on design strategy and solutions.
- Establish and own team goals, applying an understanding of potential challenges to provide effective support.
- Leads functional continuous process improvement by recommending enhancements and identifying new tools and technologies.
- Evangelize the strength of design-thinking and demonstrate how its application across workstreams provides common ground among teams through a shared vocabulary, production of tangible artifacts, and the building of a trust-based team culture.
- Mentors junior to mid-level designers within Whole Foods Market and outside in the larger design community.
- Motivate and lead the UX Product Team by promoting innovation, exploration, high performance, and a strong sense of urgency as well as ongoing education and learning.

Education & Experience:
- BA/BS or Masters Degree in User Experience Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Fine Art, Psychology, or a related discipline. 2-5 years of leadership experience and 5-10 years experience in the industry, OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Preference goes to those who have:
- Experience leading a diverse team in the delivery of experiences from end to end (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals) as well as tools skilled with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and expertise in planning and building design roadmaps that align to larger, organizational goals.
- Experience working within diverse, dynamic, cross-functional teams.
- You love working with others and don't mind trial and error.
- A bias for action to build consensus within the team, seeking out and encouraging the exchange of constructive feedback.
