The Pricing Specialist role works closely with the commercial organization to ensure price records are entered and maintained accurately. The role interacts with the Order Receipt and Handling personnel to manage price discrepancies and with the Payment Receipt and Handling function to investigate and resolve payment discrepancies. The Pricing Specialist will oversee and actively engage in all pricing activities to ensure they are performed in a timely manner with high efficiency, communicating with the commercial organization to ensure price records are set up per expectations and in accordance with business needs, work with commercial organization to clearly define pricing strategy necessary for each customer and/or business.
Additionally, the Pricing Specialist will be required to understand and utilize optimal internal mechanisms in SAP to build pricing framework that best matches the pricing strategy defined, validate price records periodically in tandem with commercial and business organizations to ensure that only required and current pricing is in the system and maintain privacy of competitive pricing. The Pricing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring all activity is compliant to Olin SOX standards and Operating Level Agreements, interacting with external customer base and participate on strategic customer account teams providing documentation and reporting related to pricing as well as understanding of pricing framework.
Pricing Specialist Essential Job Functions:
Price Maintenance
- Review pricing communications via functional mailbox from the commercial organization
- Create, manage, and update new pricing/secondary conditions in the system utilizing price design and price strategy
- Audit price records in SAP against business created records
Price Discrepancies
- Investigate cause of price discrepancy; work with appropriate parties (Accounting, Commercial and/or Customer Service) to have corrected and to track trends
- Check pricing framework to identify if a new approach is necessary
- Identify invoices potentially impacted if price change occurred as a result of the discrepancy being identified; request processed invoices affected by price changes to reflect updated pricing
Payment Discrepancies
- Investigate by providing understanding of correct price and working with commercial organization to eliminate gap
- Check pricing framework to identify if a new approach is necessary
- Work with commercial to reach consensus on correct pricing on discrepancies
Subject Matter Expert
- Understand the NAA price design; establish and maintain pricing strategies for the business
- Responsible for all formula pricing
- Troubleshoot and investigate pricing related technical issues
- Provide support for commercial business process improvement
- Create, manage, and train users with NAA Pricing training documentation; assist users with NAA Pricing work process documentation and continuous updates
- Investigate integration process and understand the framework for troubleshooting
- Special project assignments
Pricing Specialist Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree*
- Minimum 3 years in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency and Order To Cash workflow experience
- Experience using SAP or other relevant ERP system preferred
- Must be a self-starter and able to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects
- Must respond well to pressure and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and documentation
- Detail oriented, analytical and a strong math aptitude; strong problem solving, verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively deal with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally, while fostering a team environment
- Available for occasional overnight travel
- Prior Olin experience in a related role preferred
