Summary
The Price Risk Manager will develop energy Price Risk management strategies and products and will provide advice to current clients, prospective clients (sales) and others (industry presentations). This position will assist in establishing World Kinect Energy Services' position in regard to Price Risk management strategies for natural gas, electricity, and transportation fuels based on a variety of energy market factors and sources and be a resource in these matters for those requiring such information. The Price Risk Manager shall communicate Price Risk management concepts, strategies and forecasts through a variety of media, including written advice, website postings, internal and external meetings, published articles and formal articles. This individual will work closely alongside others on the team as well as the KAM group but will also be expected to work independently
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze external data sources to identify energy market pricing trends, in natural gas, electricity and transportation fuels and help craft the company's official "market position". Network with energy professionals to develop and challenge Price Risk management strategies. Develop a Kinect position about hedging natural gas, electricity and transportation fuels in near term and deferred markets
  • Research, analyze and interpret data on marketplace trends, competitors, customers, suppliers, and changes to energy regulations, infrastructure and the like to create actionable recommendations for clients and internal personnel
  • Communicate Price Risk management strategies internally and externally. Prepare Price Risk management content for use by internal and external clients utilizing such means newsletters, e-mails or webinars. Send out alert e-mails when market conditions are changing which, at one's discretion, causes actionable concern
  • Be a peer consultant to leadership on hedging and energy risk management questions and provide leadership to all internal Price Risk management programs
  • Continually improve on energy Price Risk management products, reports and strategies. Develop other services as required - An example might be the development and implementation of a standalone risk management and hedging program to sell as a standalone to nontraditional clients.
  • Form trusted relationships with senior decision makers that enable effective communication and alignment around critical business decisions for the organization.
  • Media/industry supply-demand reports in the public domain regarding North America natural gas and electricity.
  • Daily market information (Platts, EIA, ICE Platform).
  • Attend industry conferences that provide expert advice to changing trends and access to market data.

Minimum Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Finance or other business-related discipline (Finance or Economics preferred)
  • Master's Degree or equivalent (MS, MBA, JD, etc.) is preferred
  • Professional work experience of at least 7 years required, at least 3 years work experience in the energy industry
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to translate complex business problems into financial terms
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, presentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to conduct business-level meetings and communication effectively
  • Strong decision-making ability, including ability to synthesize information and recommend solutions/preferred options
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence at high levels in the organization
  • Ability to create, understand and interpret financial models
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively engage directly with target company senior management
  • Professional presence and absolute integrity
