Overview:
The Press Secretary will play a crucial role in the 'Buss for America' campaign, serving as the primary spokesperson and media liaison. This position requires exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of media dynamics, and the ability to effectively convey the campaign's messages and values to the public and press.
Key Responsibilities:
- Media Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries and requests.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and media outlets, both local and national.
- Messaging and Communications:
- Develop and articulate clear, consistent messaging that aligns with the campaign's objectives and core values.
- Prepare talking points, press releases, and briefing materials for the candidate and campaign staff.
- Press Briefings and Conferences:
- Organize and conduct press briefings and conferences, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information.
- Coach and prepare the candidate and campaign staff for media appearances and interviews.
- Crisis Communications:
- Lead the response to media crises, developing strategies to manage and mitigate negative coverage.
- Act swiftly and strategically to maintain the campaign's integrity and public image.
- Coordination with Campaign Teams:
- Collaborate closely with the Communications Director, Digital Team, and other campaign staff to ensure a unified and coherent media strategy.
- Assist in integrating media efforts with broader campaign initiatives and events.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in media relations, communications, or a related field, ideally in a political campaign or government setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Deep understanding of the media landscape and experience managing press relations.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $19.60 - $23.61 per hour
