Job Summary:

This position is accountable for the safe, continuous, profitable, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of reciprocating engine or gas turbine generator sets, turbomachinery, and balance of plant equipment in compliance with industry standards and Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agency requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with engineers, partners, and suppliers to meet business goals in accordance with the sustainable use of facilities and budget demands.
  • Constructs an efficient facility maintenance team and guides training sessions to ensure quality performance.
  • Evaluates the operation's effectiveness with current utilities and equipment; provides appropriate solutions to challenges and risks.
  • Oversees inspections, repairs and updates of facilities and relevant operational activities; maintains order at the facility.
  • Responsible for providing leadership and direction to a technical staff of operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain high plant availability and equipment performance within safe operating parameters and budget constraints. Familiar with the overall aspects of plant operation.
  • Excellent management and communications skills along with solid engineering fundamentals on both turbomachinery and balance of plant equipment. Able to communicate in technical terms with engineers and technicians.
  • Thorough understanding of facility and adherence to all plant safety issues and reporting requirements including emergency conditions. Communicate plant malfunctions to customers, regulatory agencies, or utilities.
  • Manage the Environmental Health and Safety Program to meet Caterpillar policy and objectives.
  • Achieve or exceed objectives of business plan within the specified annual goals, budget limitations, and margin forecasts.
  • Responsible for the management of plant personnel including establishing performance goals and objectives, completing performance appraisals, hiring, corrective action, career development, scheduling, and personnel allocation.
  • Complete all facility reporting such as production, downtime, maintenance, trending/performance.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, code issues on maintenance, license requirements, and permit compliance.
  • Oversee inventory utilization and management; determine on-site spares definition, quantity levels, and purchasing requirements.
  • Establish all necessary operating and maintenance procedures, maintenance, and materials management system in order to meet plant performance objectives. This includes all necessary predictive and preventative maintenance, failure analysis, and corrective maintenance and safety practices. Manage the application of all contract management tools and processes.
  • Manage outside services: vendor selection; negotiate prices, terms, and conditions; contract services; define scope; manage contract personnel; approve equipment rentals/leases.
  • Direct maintenance scheduling considering contractual obligations, customer requirements, and personnel utilization within business plan, budget, and financial constraints.
  • Provide direction and leadership to all plant employees. Establish employee professional growth, skills enhancement, and identify and implement training to meet individual professional growth objectives.
  • Ensure all plant malfunction reporting is communicated to the customer, regulatory agency, or utility. This includes plant operation that exceeds environmental permit limits, gas and electric utility interconnection issues and customer energy demand issues. Report any emergencies; prevent major equipment damage and/or personal injury by recognizing potential problems and taking corrective action.
  • Review any deviation of individual equipment performance from standards as corrected for site conditions including the gas turbine engine, driven equipment, and balance of plant equipment and approve corrective action plan.
  • Interface with and support other Caterpillar entities involved in plant issues.
  • Resolve contract disputes. Negotiate contract escalations, renewals, extensions, and revisions.
  • Serve as the primary contact with customers; provide a positive plant image that can be displayed to prospective customers.
  • Develop and perform analysis related to improvement of and enhanced dispatch of Energy Supply Assets whether located at ATPS or other Caterpillar owned energy assets.
  • Aid in the setup and monitoring of Demand Management Systems operated by Energy team including real time analysis of demand data used to reduce costs or improve energy asset utilization whether at ATPS or elsewhere or Caterpillar managed energy assets.

Education Requirement:

Minimum educational requirement - High School diploma or equivalent

Plant Facilities Management:

• Works with the installation, maintenance, and upkeep for a large or multiple facilities.

• Monitors environmental, safety and equipment requirements and conditions.

• Participates in the development of change, contingency and back-up or recovery plans.

• Deals effectively with customers and vendor support staff to resolve routine problems.

• Manages space planning processes and establishes requirements for staff and equipment.

• Monitors processes and procedures for developing and maintaining building security to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Possesses Power Plant site-specific experience/related industrial experience, formal certification, military experience, or equivalent

• Complete and maintain required safety training & “Authorized Employee” qualifications

• Complete and maintain required technical training and qualifications

• Meets physical requirements for position

S upp li e r Management - MFG:

• Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks

• Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.

• Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.

• Research alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.

• Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position will require less than 10% travel.
