What does a Power Line Technician 2/C do?
Under the direct or general supervision of a Lineman Foreman/Forewoman or other supervisor to do the work on transmission and distribution lines; to do the simpler work on energized primary and secondary conductors and equipment; under immediate supervision to do, or assist in doing, the more complicated work on energized primary conductors and equipment and to perform less skilled work when required.
What does it take to be a Power Line Technician 2/C?
Required:
- Evidence of successful completion of the requirements for graduation from High School or an Equivalency Diploma
- Must have at least four years’ experience as a Power Line Technician as a Second Class Lineman/Linewoman or its equivalent, and must successfully pass the written and overhead agility assessments
- Must have a good knowledge of general line practices and distribution standards
- Must have general knowledge of the layout and characteristics of the distribution and transmission lines in the area to which such employee is assigned
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers Class A permit within 6 months of entering the classification. Required to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Drivers Class A restricted (truck/trailer combo only - O restriction) license with metal coil endorsement within 12 months of entering the classification
- Evidence of physical fitness shall be required and at the Company's option must be demonstrated by medical examination by a doctor selected by the Company
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must be willing to work irregular and/or extra hours as required
- Must be willing to work under unusual or special working conditions and surroundings as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job
