Job Summary:
The Sr O&M Technician is responsible for maintaining assets at the power plant. The incumbent will coordinate and/or perform work of high skill in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including instruments, control systems, electrical systems, and balance of plant mechanical equipment. The individual will provide first-line support to compliance programs for health, safety, and the environment. The position encounters new and varied work situations involving a moderate degree of complexity.
Job Functions:

• Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems
• Inspect, repair, install, and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts.

• Perform mechanical, electronic, and electrical troubleshooting and testing.
• Successfully complete company-sponsored training courses and training qualification problems as required.

• Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.

• Prepare, track, and maintain cost estimates and schedules.
• Utilize records and reports to assist in establishing frequency of maintenance requirements.
• Interact with Operations staff to improve maintenance effectiveness.
• Ensure the maintenance activities are properly supported with necessary parts, tooling, and services on a timely basis.
• Complete purchase requisitions, work orders, and preventive maintenance tasks in CMMS
• Input inventory information (adds/deletes) to maintain accurate CMMS inventory
• Complete annual audit of inventory
• Complete operating events log for submission to the ISO.
• Administer and utilize CMMS to create, schedule, and manage all types of work orders to support plant reliability.
• Assist in maintaining housekeeping, safety, and environmental compliance at the site
• Assist in ensuring site compliance and reporting with regulatory departments such as NERC
• Practice proper Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and follow all company safety procedures.

• Respond immediately to plant operating and safety emergencies
• When needed, assist in off-loading plant deliveries adhering to all plant safety guidelines.
• Supervise and interface with outside contractors and vendors for execution of projects/tasks on an as-needed basis
• Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on DCS, PLC, and turbine control equipment.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of major maintenance activities, including outage planning.
• Develop and update plant calibration and electrical/electronic maintenance procedures.
• Technicians must perform duties in such a way as to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
• Perform off-line operating inspections
• Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Manager

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

• Associate Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Engineering or equivalent and two years' work experience as a technician in a related industry desirable.
• Five years' experience in instrumentation/controls/electrical test equipment and electrical maintenance in a power plant or equivalent.
• Experience working with OSI Soft PI Historian, Allen Bradley, & GE PLCs, Woodward MicroNET Plus
• Be generally familiar with NERC requirements for power plants
• Knowledge of power plant equipment such as motors, pumps, fans, turbines, generators, fluid systems, pollution control equipment, AC and DC electrical distribution and controls systems, etc.
• Understanding of fundamental principles of mathematics, AC and DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermodynamics, chemistry, and metallurgy.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, schematics, logics, and network diagrams (LAN/WAN).
• Be familiar with procurement (material and labor) and inventory practices
• Sound knowledge of power plant safety, especially in areas such as high energy systems, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, first aid, rotating machinery, heavy equipment operations, etc.
• Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards, and other devices associated with power plant equipment as well as basic hand tools, calibration equipment, portable electric and pneumatic tools, rigging equipment, and other implements.
• Ability to efficiently use Microsoft suite of applications, MicroGADS, or similar applications

Certification of Fitness (FDNY) - must obtain and maintain

• C91 - Supervision of Storage, Handling and Use of Flammable or Combustible Liquids
• C92 - Supervision of Flammable/Combustible Liquids
• G29 - Safe Use, Handling, Storage, and Compression of Flammable Gases with Pressure Above 6 Per Square Inch

• Any other certificate of fitness required by the governing agency

• Ability to safely operate a forklift and man lift
