Basic Function Direct and coordinates activities of the day-to-day operations of the facility in an industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan facility operations.2. Maintains safe working conditions throughout the plant by taking corrective action on unsafe conditions or acts. Serves as a member of the Plant Safety Committee. Implements all approved safety recommendations and ensures compliance with established safety standards and other programs required by law and/or Amcor.3. Maintains standards of quality to meet customer and internal specifications. Strives for continuous improvement in quality performance through proper training, good communication, effective leadership/supervision, and follow-up with all members of the facility.4. Plans production to ensure customer deadlines are met.5. Prepare operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.6. Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and delivery problems.7. Controls the financial spending of all departments.8. Develop or revises standard operational and working practices and observes managers to ensure compliance with standards.9. Conducts meetings with the managers to control the daily operations and review any customer issues.10. Effectively handles employee complaints, suggestions, questions, and conflicts in accordance with the guidelines established in the Employee Handbook and in accordance with company policies/procedures. Maintains employee morale and discipline through fairness and impartiality.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage the departmental managers who in turn supervise department personnel of the facility. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the facility.
Qualifications:Experience Required: Eight to ten years related experience or the combined equivalent preferably in a plastics manufacturing environment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Authorization: Ability to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee’s health and/or safety. Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained. Ability to shut down any if it is down three items in one hour for the same mechanical problem. Authority to contact any staff or management team member with concerns, questions or suggestions pertaining to their job or work environment. Initiate Corrective Actions for violations of Company policies. Recommend hiring, termination and promotions of subordinates. Approve expenditures up to pre-determined amount identified by corporate guidelines. Authorize to purchase and introduce chemicals into the facility Close the facility to avoid catastrophic environmental and safety issues. Authorize product recall to minimize damage to customer exposures. Represent the company in legal proceedings.
