Form of workAs a direct report to the CFO and in close collaboration with the executive leadership of our Illinois manufacturing facilities, the Plant Controller oversees the plant's financial controlling functions. Utilizing a hybrid work structure, this role is pivotal for crafting and supervising cost tracking methods, order costing processes, and inventory management protocols. The Plant Controller contributes to the establishment and continuity of a uniform cost accounting system. In conjunction with the finance team, this position aids in the preparation and observation of annual budget metrics while also assisting in the creation of long-term, high-level financial forecasts aligned with the company's vision and objectives. Utilizing data-driven approaches, the Plant Controller constructs business plans, performs profitability analyses, and generates comprehensive financial reports to aid management in strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop financial models for various needs including forecasting, budgeting, and product costing.
- Scrutinize plant performance ratios, evaluate them against industry benchmarks, and propose improvement strategies.
- Refine existing reporting tools to better equip senior management for decision-making.
- Interpret monthly financial outcomes, contrasting them against budgetary parameters, return on investment, and other critical metrics.
- Contribute to the preparation and monitoring of the annual plant budget, delivering updates to senior management.
- Conduct detailed production and cost analyses for plant operations.
- Ascertain proper product costing, formulate standard cost frameworks, and examine production variances.
- Evaluate the profitability and cash flow of bids and proposals, followed by post-sales analyses.
- Certify accurate and appropriate recording and allocation of revenue and cost of sales.
- Administer the monthly closing processes for the plant and associated cost centers.
- Detect opportunities for cost reductions and efficiency gains.
- Collaborate with corporate accounting, additional Plant Controllers, and international G+D Finance staff for consolidated financial reporting.
- Undertake additional analyses and special projects as necessitated by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Operations or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capacity to engage effectively with personnel across various levels of the organization.
- Robust analytical skills.
- Organizational proficiency.
- Aptitude for multi-tasking.
- Advanced computer literacy, including the facility to operate multiple accounting software packages.
- MBA or CPA certification is advantageous.
