Purpose of Job:
Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by assisting the Pharmacist in providing customer service to patients as follows:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Immediately greets patients, determines their needs and relays appropriate information to Pharmacist/Pharmacy Technician
- Collects insurance co-pays, if applicable, verifies patient demographic information
- Operates cash register and reconcile daily receipts within established guidelines as directed
- Directs patients to pharmacist on all new prescriptions for counselling and refills when the pharmacist deems necessary.
- Professionally answers telephone calls within established guidelines; takes messages and/or refers callers to appropriate individuals
- Handles mail, correspondence, copying and filing for all other Pharmacy staff
- Assists with refills as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Needs to have a high school diploma or equivalent. Customer service and telephone skills preferred. Must have a valid Washington State Pharmacy Assistant license
Skills: Computer skills required. Ability to learn new software and other office tools. Ability to spell
accurately. Able to clearly communicate information to patients and gather information from patients.
Must have basic math skills to calculate patient payments.
Physical Demands:
Front Office staff are required to stand, sit, and be mobile 1/3rd to 2/3rds of the time. They are required
to use hands to finger, handle or feel over 2/3rds of the time; while reaching with hands and arms occurs
1/3rd of the day. Climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling or crouching occurs less than 1/3rd of the time. Communicating by talking/ hearing occurs over 2/3rds of the day. Lifting up to 10 lbs occurs occasionally, while 25-50 lbs occurs infrequently.
