Olympic Pharmacy & Healthcare Services, an independent pharmacy and Durable Medical Equipment retail store situated in Gig Harbor, Washington, is dedicated to delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care and specialized services within our community. The Pharmacy is growing, and we are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to join our exceptional staff.
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will report directly to the Pharmacy Manager. Your primary focus will be providing exceptional customer service and assisting with daily pharmacy operations. You will play a crucial role in our fast-paced, independent retail pharmacy.

Responsibilities:
- Welcoming and assisting customers with prescription refills and pickup orders.
- Handling incoming phone calls and directing them to the appropriate person/department.
- Assisting with prescription-related inquiries and redirecting health-related questions to pharmacists.
- Processing patient orders and maintaining accurate patient profiles.
- Operating point-of-sale (POS) registers for cash, credit, and check transactions.
- Maintaining cash drawer accuracy and ensuring register balance at the end of each shift.
- Restocking shelves and monitoring medication expiration dates.
- Collecting and packaging prescriptions for in-store and delivery orders.
- Preparing and processing prescription orders for mail delivery.
- Utilizing fax and mail machine for communications and shipments.
- Working a shift based on business needs and store hours.
- Adapt to additional responsibilities as directed by the Pharmacy Manager to support the efficient operation of the pharmacy.
Required License/Certification:
- Active Washington State DOH issued Pharmacy Assistant License OR willing to obtain one by start date.
Required Experience/Knowledge:
- 1 year of in-person customer service experience.
- 1 year of experience operating a Point of Sales (POS) system.
- 1 year of retail cashier experience with cash and credit handling skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must pass background check and drug test.
- Exercise extreme attention to detail.
- Possess exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
- Comfortably navigate various technologies.
- Capability to operate a Point-of-Sale system.
- Able to use multi-line phone system.
- Ability to deliver high quality services to meet our patients and family’s needs.
- Adapt to a fast-paced environment and changes in workflow.
Work Hours (Based on store & business needs):
- Opening & Closing Shifts
- Monday through Friday
- Rotating Saturdays
Physical Requirements:
- Must live within a reasonable commute; preference will be given to those living locally.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, handle clerical tasks, and lift 1-5 lbs. consistently.
- Occasionally lift, carry, and move items up to 10 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for handling store/office equipment, cash, supplies and products.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision and accuracy.
- Constant bending, reaching, handling, and maneuvering of supplies and products.
- May be exposed Hazardous Exposure (Blood Borne Pathogens, Chemical & Infectious)
