As an Operational and Food Safety Specialist at Albright's Raw Dog Food, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency of our operations and the safety of our Pet Food products. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Operational and Food Safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and uphold our commitment to delivering top-tier pet nutrition. Key Responsibilities:
Operational Efficiency:
- Streamline and optimize production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with production teams to implement best practices for operational excellence.
- Develop a production schedule and monitor and order raw materials for production.
- Develop and maintain a labor schedule that maximizes team efficiency and minimizes labor cost.
- Assist the warehouse manager with optimizing and managing the warehouse area.
Food Safety Compliance:
- Stay informed about industry regulations and standards related to pet Food Safety.
- Develop and update Food Safety protocols to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure that the operation and warehouse teams comply with all Food Safety protocols and procedures.
- Supervise and conduct environmental monitoring and testing procedures.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production facility to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and rectify any quality issues promptly.
Training and Education:
- Provide training to production staff on Food Safety practices, hygiene, and equipment handling.
- Keep employees informed about any updates or changes in Food Safety regulations.
- Ensure that all personnel are trained in OSHA, warehouse, and operational safety procedures.
Incident Response:
- Develop and implement procedures for handling recalls and incidents related to Food Safety.
- Conduct investigations into any reported incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records related to Food Safety and track and report operational metrics.
- Generate reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Operations or a related management field.
- Proven experience in Food Safety, quality assurance, or operations within the food industry.
- Knowledge of Pet Food regulations and industry standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop, update, and maintain advanced Excel spreadsheets that provide accurate and up-to-date operational metrics (pivot tables, etc).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
