Job Announcement: Personal Care Attendants

LIFE Inc., a Center for Independent Living with innovative services and programs designed by and for people with disabilities, is seeking to hire compassionate, motivated, and reliable
Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) to join our team. If you are an existing PCA, someone looking for a new career, or a full-time or part-time student looking for work to accommodate your class schedule, LIFE’s newly launched Emergency Providers for In-Home Care Services Program may be ideal for you. LIFE’s PCAs will be responsible for providing prompt, high-quality Personal Care services to individuals with disabilities and older adults needing immediate assistance with critical activities of daily living. Starting wage is $20-$25 an hour, depending on experience.
Essential Tasks:
1. Provide prompt, high-quality services to Consumers needing assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, clothing, toileting, grooming, etc.
2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of Consumer interactions and observations.
3. Ensure confidentiality and adherence to program policies and procedures.
4. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and maintain any necessary certifications.
5. Communicate effectively with Consumers, families, and team members, demonstrating empathy, active listening, and cultural sensitivity.
6. Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Program by providing feedback, suggestions, and participating in program evaluations.

Qualifications/Skills:
1. Ability to communicate verbally to convey information to Consumers effectively
2. Ability to exercise good judgment and take initiative
3. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations
4. Demonstrated commitment to Consumer-Directed care, teamwork, and continuous learning

5. Ability to pass a background check
6. Ability to maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
7. Reliable transportation
Education/Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least one year’s experience in providing personal assistance services to individuals with disabilities and older adults; or any combination of education and experience that may qualify the individual for the position.
