Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at the VNH provides compassionate non-medical hands-on care for clients who require assistance with Personal Care, light homemaking tasks, medication cueing and errands so that clients can remain safely in their respective homes.
Personal Care Assistant (PCA):
This is a per diem position, 15 - 20 hours per week, days, evenings and overnights. Evenings and overnights qualify for a shift differential. We are seeking candidates who are interested in making home visits within a specified town or facility generalized territory or providing client-specific visits. This is the perfect opportunity for those who have a passion for helping people in their community while minimizing the amount of time spent driving.
Under the supervision of the Long Term Care Case Manager the PCA provides direct care to the client as outlined in the Plan of Care which may include but not limited to:
- Grooming
- Bathing
- Toileting
- Eating
- Dressing
- Preparing meals; grocery shopping, storage, general cooking, storing in containers, utilizing safe food handling standards
- Cleaning living areas including kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and sitting areas; includes the possible use of vacuum cleaners, brooms, general household cleaners, and general household trash removal
- Completing errands for the client
- Medication cueing without administering
- Requests training and education from VNH PCA manager when needed for specific clients, job tasks.
- Informs the LTC Case Manager of any changes in the client's condition or home environment.
- Under the agency provided iPhone, the PCA Records activities and submits client-related visit activities and other administrative paperwork on a timely basis, i.e. time sheets, errand sheets, or other documentation.
- Attends team meetings, in-services and educational activities as requested.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures including the infection control policy and client rights and responsibilities.
- Understands and maintains confidentiality.
- Maintains a valid driver's license and required levels of automobile insurance
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience with Personal Care of the disabled and/or elderly preferred.
- Ability to use iPhone preferred. Must be willing to learn to use iPhone and apps required by VNH and the states of Vermont and New Hampshire.
- Maintains a valid driver's license and required levels of automobile insurance
