The Little Duck Collective, PLLC is looking to hire a compassionate, independent, and creative Pediatric Occupational Therapist. Our practice follows a child-led, strengths-based model of therapy. This is a part-time position with an opportunity to grow into a full-time position.

As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive speech and language therapy services to children in various settings, including homes, schools, and daycares. This therapist will be seeing clients primarily through the Illinois Early Intervention program with the possibility of some private clients. You will be expected to cover areas in the suburbs of Chicago of your choosing. You will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and speech disorders in pediatric patients, with the goal of improving their motor skills, sensory processing development, and overall quality of life.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the developmental needs and challenges of pediatric patients.
- Analyze sensory, motor, and cognitive skills to determine areas requiring intervention.
Treatment Planning:
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to set goals.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and activities of daily living.
Therapeutic Interventions:
- Provide direct one-on-one therapy sessions to children, incorporating play-based and age-appropriate activities.
- Utilize adaptive equipment and assistive technology to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
Parent and Caregiver Education:
- Educate parents, caregivers, and other family members on effective strategies to support their child's development at home.
- Collaborate with families to establish home-based activities that reinforce therapy goals.
Progress Monitoring:
- Regularly evaluate and document the progress of each child in therapy.
- Adjust treatment plans as needed and communicate progress to the interdisciplinary team and parents.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, speech therapists, and physical therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to pediatric care.
- Maintain open communication with parents, caregivers, and educators to provide a cohesive support system for the child.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Illinois state licensure and certification as an Occupational Therapist.
- New grads are welcome to apply. 1-3+ years of experience in Pediatric Occupational therapy is preferred.
- Illinois Early Intervention credential or interest in pursuing one.
- Experience working in home care, schools, and/or daycares a plus.
- Feeding therapy experience a plus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to connect with children and their families.
- Flexibility to travel and work in various settings, including homes, schools, and daycares.
