Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, values, objectives, and policies and procedures, the PC Technician supports and maintains all workstations, printers, and other peripheral devices. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all associated hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, ensuring optimal workstation performance. This position also troubleshoots problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provides end user training and assistance where required.
Education: An Associate’s Degree in computer science or related field with 3-7 years’ experience working in a PC support role or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
Licensure/Certification: Current CompTIA A+ required (CompTIA A+ Core 1 (220-1001 and Core 2 (220-1002)) or obtained within 6 months of hire. Certification must be renewed every 3 years or when retired by CompTIA, whichever occurs first.
Experience: 3-7 years’ experience installing and supporting PC hardware and software, previous experience with Fast Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Windows Printing, and previous experience using browsers, remote control and remote access is required. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is preferred.
Skills: Must have a high level of self-motivation, organization and quality, and proven analytical and troubleshooting skills. Must also have the demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment, exceptional customer service skills, and the demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware including PCs, laptops/tablets and thin clients. Strong written and oral communication skills and good time management and prioritization skills are also required.
